I'm planning on installing a 4" fan and a 4" carbon filter on the outside intake side of my 4x4 tent.

I'm also planning on installing a 6" fan and a 6" carbon filter above the light inside the tent. I can't route the exhaust duct outside the window, so I'm thinking about re-routing it to the 6" carbon filter. I live in an apartment and need to keep the smell out,is that okay?

Inside your tent you should have your filter on the intake side of the fan and the exhaust leaving the tent. You should have a fan that gives you negative pressure in the tent and you should be OK.
Getting the right size fan/filter is crucial.
For extra peace of mind you could make an air scrubber that you put outside the tent completely separate from the tent. You could put it on a timer and use a big fan and filter for this job. Have it going while you're working on your plants
