Pale green planty!

My Plant has been a very pale green from seed. Is this PH problem? I balance my water after nutrients but I think the soil PH is low. Shows around 4.5 to 5 on sensor. How do I raise it?

Yes, a soil pH of 4.5–5.0 is too low and can cause pale green leaves due to nutrient lockout, especially nitrogen, calcium, and magnesium. How to raise soil pH: Flush with pH 6.5–7.0 water (use 2–3x the pot volume). Add a small amount of dolomite lime to the top layer (1–2 tablespoons per 10L soil) — slow but effective. Avoid acidic fertilizers for now.

To be honest, I’m a bit skeptical about those soil sensors. But if the soil pH really is as low as 4.5, I’d recommend watering with water at around pH 6.8 for the time being. That way, you can gradually help bring the soil environment back into balance.

Yes, your plant's pale green color from seed and soil pH reading of 4.5–5 strongly suggest a pH issue, not a nutrient deficiency per se. At that acidic level, key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium become unavailable to the plant—even if they're in the soil. Ideal pH: For most plants (especially vegetables and herbs), ideal soil pH is 6.0 to 7.0. Some exceptions prefer more acidic or alkaline conditions, but most will struggle at 4.5–5.
