Depends on what effect you want to achieve Trichome Color Guide 1. Mostly Clear (immature): Effect: Weak, heady, short-lasting high Not ideal for harvest – the plant isn’t ready yet 2. 50% Clear / 50% Cloudy: Effect: Uplifting, more cerebral, mild Good for: Daytime use, creativity, focus Harvest early if you want a more energetic or less sedating effect 3. Mostly Cloudy (with some clear): Effect: Potent high, strong THC content Best for: Balanced experience – both head and body effects Sweet spot for many growers harvesting for recreational use 4. 70–90% Cloudy / 10–30% Amber: Effect: Stronger body high, more relaxing, stoney Good for: Evening use, stress relief, pain, sleep Ideal for indica strains or if you’re looking for a couch-lock effect 5. Mostly Amber: Effect: Heavier sedation, more CBN (degraded THC) Used for: Strong medicinal needs (sleep, pain)

You have about a two week window once the trichomes start clouding. Flushing them a day or two before harvest is good enough.

You need to wait until the trichomes become cloudy, then it is ideal to collect them, because if you overexpose them and get completely amber trichomes, these will be overripe buds, the effect will be indica even if it is sativa strain.

Based on your description alone: Clear trichomes mean it's too early to harvest — the plant hasn’t reached full potency. Cloudy/milky trichomes are ideal for peak THC levels. Amber trichomes signal THC is degrading into CBN, which produces a more sedative effect. General Guidance: If the majority are still clear, keep feeding nutrients. If they’re mostly cloudy with a few ambers, you’re close to harvest — start flushing with plain water. If it’s 20%+ amber, you should flush now and plan to harvest within the next 7–10 days. Flushing typically lasts 7–14 days depending on your grow medium. For soil, 10–14 days is common.
