Hey buddy,
Good question, and nice close-up photo, that already helps a lot.
Short answer
👉 Yes, this looks like a normal swollen calyx.
Nothing alarming here.
⸻
What we’re seeing
• A single, rounded structure at the bud site
• Surrounded by pistils
• No elongated yellow shapes
• No clusters or bananas visible
This is exactly how female calyxes can look when:
• The plant is happy
• Early-to-mid flower is progressing
• Hormones are doing their thing
Some strains (and some individual plants) show very pronounced calyx swelling, even without pollination.
⸻
What it is NOT
Important to clear this up for peace of mind:
• ❌ Not a “banana” (nanner)
• Those are elongated, yellow, and smooth
• ❌ Not a pollen sac
• Those form in clusters and lack pistils
• ❌ Not a problem or mutation
At this stage, this is normal female anatomy.
⸻
When to keep an eye out (just observing, not worrying)
• If it multiplies suddenly into many hard balls → investigate
• If pistils disappear and it hardens fast → check again
• Otherwise: let her do her thing
Growers Love my friend and In my humble opinion right now, there’s no red flag. Just keep an eye on it and let her continue and keep us posted, all good so far 🌱
