Hey buddy,
Yes, in this case I myself would defoliate a bit before the flip, and youāre actually in a very good window for it since you still have ~10 days.
The goal here is not to just remove leaves for the sake of it. The goal is to open the plant up:
⢠improve airflow
⢠allow light to reach inner growth
⢠help the plant stretch more evenly once flowering starts
Right now the canopy is very dense, which can limit light penetration and trap humidity. A controlled defoliation now gives her time to recover, rebalance hormones, and bounce back before the flowering stretch begins.
If you wait until after the flip, the plant will be dealing with:
⢠hormonal changes
⢠stretch
⢠and stress from leaf removal
all at the same time, which isnāt ideal.
By doing it now, she goes into flower calmer, more open, and better prepared, with more light hitting future bud sites.
Iād focus on:
⢠Large fan leaves blocking light
⢠Leaves growing inward
⢠Very low growth that will never reach the canopy
No heavy stripping needed, just intentional opening.
After that, let her rest, keep conditions stable, and sheāll reward you during stretch š±
Youāre on a good path, timing here is actually one of your strengths.
