Hey mate,
First thing first: the plants themselves actually look vigorous and alive, so youāre not failing here. This is just one of those moments where organization and environment start to matter as much as feeding and light.
Purely my humble opinion, but Iād focus on a few basics before doing anything aggressive:
Cleanliness & order
A cleaner room isnāt about being fancy, itās about avoiding future problems. Spills, standing water, old leaves, clutter⦠thatās where pests, mold, and fungus start, not where they end.
Even just a quick tidy makes a huge difference long-term.
š¬ļø Airflow
Right now the canopy looks pretty dense. Dense plants + weak airflow = moisture pockets.
You donāt need a hurricane, but you want:
⢠Air moving through the canopy, not just above it
⢠Leaves gently moving, not flapping
Good airflow is one of the cheapest forms of pest and mold prevention.
āļø Defoliation (gentle, not extreme)
I wouldnāt go heavy, especially if itās an early grow. But:
⢠Remove damaged, dying, or heavily shaded leaves
⢠Clear the lower interior a bit so air and light can pass
Think of it as helping the plant breathe, not styling it.
š Pests ā prevention mindset
Rooms that are crowded and messy donāt cause pests⦠but they make life very easy for them.
You might be fine now, but prevention is always easier than treatment. Clean floor, clean pots, no old organic debris sitting around.
And honestly, there is no single right way. Some people run wild jungles and still pull harvests. Others keep surgical rooms. What matters is learning why things work or donāt.
So take this as one growerās perspective, not a rulebook.
If itās your space, your grow, your experiment⦠you should absolutely try different approaches and see how plants respond.
Youāre on the path already š±
Just tightening the environment will make everything else easier.
