Clover cover crop?

I also planted white clover as a cover crop/mulch which you can see just sprouting if you zoom in. Any ideas about why this might be beneficial, particularly in an autopot situation?

That's a cool living mulch setup! Using white clover in an Autopot has some neat perks. Basically, clover is a nitrogen fixer—it grabs nitrogen from the air and stores it in its roots, which can help feed your plant naturally. In an Autopot system, it also acts like a natural "blanket" for the top layer of soil. Since Autopots water from the bottom, the top can sometimes get dry or build up salt. The clover keeps that top layer moist and full of microbial life. Just keep an eye on it so it doesn't get *too* thick and compete for space, but overall, it’s a great way to maintain a healthy ecosystem in your pot. Happy Growing Growmie 🌱

Nice touch, I can see the little clover popping up 👍 It can actually help quite a bit, even in an autopot. It keeps the top layer from drying out too fast, which is useful since the moisture mostly comes from below. Over time it also helps the soil stay loose and alive, and the roots + microbes do their thing. Clover can also bring in a bit of nitrogen, but more importantly it just supports a healthier soil ecosystem overall.

Well, you planted her as a cover crop/mulch. Would say possible benefit could be as cover crop/mulch. Probably no difference if it is an autopot, fabric, plastic, clay, paper... Perhaps don't plant corn next time, no idea of possible benefits. 😅 Take care.. and perhaps also about your cannabis plant and not clover😅

hi I love ihi I love it This is an excellent initiative! Using white clover as a living mulch is a very effective organic growing technique, and it makes perfect sense in an Autopot system. Here’s why it’s a winning strategy for your installation: 1. Nitrogen Fixation (The natural booster) White clover is a legume. It has a symbiotic relationship with bacteria (rhizobia) which capture nitrogen from the air to transform it into assimilable nutrients in the soil. By dying or being pruned, clover releases this nitrogen directly to the benefit of your main plant. 2. Humidity regulation in Autopot The Autopot challenge: In this system, the water rises by capillary action, which can sometimes leave the surface of the substrate too dry or, conversely, encourage an accumulation of salts on the surface. The role of clover: It acts as a cover that maintains constant and even humidity on the upper layer of the pot. This protects the microbial life growing just below the surface. 3. Soil Structure and Microbial Life Ventilation: The roots of the clover create tiny channels in your substrate, preventing it from settling over time due to continuous watering from the Autopot. Biodiversity: The roots secrete carbonaceous exudates which nourish mycorrhizal fungi and good bacteria, creating an ecosystem much richer than a “bare” pot of soil. 4. Protection against pests Covered ground is much less attractive to sciarids (mud gnats) which seek moist, bare soil to lay their eggs. My advice for your Autopot: Height control: Clover can become invasive. Don't hesitate to "snip" it with scissors if it gets too high. Leave the cutting residues on site, they will be used as green manure. Beware of the competition: In your photos, the clover has just sprouted. It's perfect. Just make sure it doesn't steal all the space early in your seedling's life. Once your plant is well established, they will coexist in perfect harmony. In summary: It is a “pro-organic” method which will stabilize the environment of your roots and optimize the efficiency of your Autopot system. I hope this helped you understand. I wish you good luck and good crops. I will follow you, I appreciate the initiative. Have a good dayt This is an excellent initiative!
