I recently harvested a Runtz from Barney's Farm and got a 7oz yield. It was a feminized seed, so I was really surprised to find seeds in the buds. Is it safe to use these seeds for my next grow? newbie grower

Congrats on that 7oz harvest, that's a massive yield for a Runtz! Finding seeds in feminized buds usually means the plant experienced some stress (like light leaks or heat) and produced "nanners" to self-pollinate, or there was a rogue male nearby. While you certainly can plant them, keep in mind that seeds born from a stressed hermaphrodite plant often carry those same genetic tendencies. This means the offspring are much more likely to turn hermie themselves and seed your entire room next time. If you're okay with the risk and want to experiment for fun, go for it, but if you want a reliable, seed-free crop, it's usually better to stick with fresh, stable genetics. Happy Growing Growmie🌱

No............seeds that come from a hermie will carry dominant genes for being hermies themselves. They will not be feminized and will be "regular" seeds too, meaning that there will be a 50/50 chance of being either male or female.............combined with the genetic dominance for hermaphroditism and the added randomness associated with inbreeding..............why risk an entire grow? Fine if you have a lot of time and space to grow a "maybe"..................but life is too short to grow "maybes" in my opinion. "probably be fine" is no guarantee that they will actually be ok..............why risk an entire grow?

Yeah, you can definitely grow those seeds. They’ll probably be fine. But here’s what happened your feminized seed threw nanners (male flowers) or got pollinated somehow stress, humidity spike, or just bad genetics luck. It happens, especially with some strains. The seeds you found are likely female (since it was a feminized plant), so they should grow out female too. No risk there. But before you pop them, think about what might have caused the pollination was there stress during flower? Temp swings? Light leak? If you can figure it out, you can avoid it next time. 7oz is still solid, so your grow went pretty well overall. Just keep those seeds dry and cool until you’re ready to use them. They’ll be good for a while. Next run, just dial in your environment a bit tighter if you can stable temps, no light leaks, solid humidity control. That usually stops the nanners from showing up. The seeds are a bonus, not a disaster.
