@Orchard, what an absolute legend. I'm gobsmacked by the offer of advice... and the timing is unbelievable. I literally just before reading this decided that I was one of the "underwater" beginners and the spray was being swallowed up too quick, the soil felt pretty dry each time i went back, so I decided I should give her a proper drink. Went in with 100ml of just filtered water! Damn!
This is perfect advice. I do have root cubes and i'll do this system next time for sure, soaking the mix and then adding the cube and then leaving it alone. But for now, given i've done what i've done, I'll just have to sit on my hands for a few days and see if she handles it and then I can leave her really dry out, maybe go with the 100ml again towards the end of the week if she's still happy and the soil feels really dry about a knuckle down?
@BonesJones123,
Thats exactly what I would do. I could be wrong but im pretty sure. Try this, take 2 solo cups fill them with medium only, then water one entirely. Pick them up and feel the weight difference. If your weight is that of the soaked cup well then its soaked....
Your doing a great job BTW I know this can get frustrating and the amount of snake oil or bullish people say works is everywhere. Ive learned I do better the more in tune with the actual plant I am and reading its "signs". I was actually horrible at this and why I did ebb and flo for years first. Its something that develops with time so dont worry.
Keep up the great work, and sometimes the hardest thing to do with these plants is to leave them alone lol.
Good luck,
any other issues feel free to shoot me a PM
One more thing I forgot about root cubes. (I use Root Riot)
When you use them soak them in your pre mix nute then give them a gentle squeeze so they arnt soaked.
When you use those be carefull of the premade hole in the pod. If this hole is loose or to big (IE: if you can see the seed down in the hole) they will start in the hole because of the little bit of light then start to develop and get stuck in the pod and die. The pod should be snug around the seed not loose and visible. This just happened to me and murdered my germ stats.
