Just out of curiosity what's the micro cover supposed to do for you? I have ideas but I would like to know your reason

@Family_Trees, to keep the soil from drying out, in Canada I have hot an old hot air furnace that creates very dry air. If I use cloth pots it's non stop watering. Covering the surface with clay pellets or clover helps to retains the moisture in the soil. It looks better when done with outdoor plants, but the clover flowers look pretty anywhere.
