@Gopher_Reaper
, malted barley is just grain that has been sprouted and dried so that would be considered fully organic. It’s equivalent to a sprouted seed tea without all the hassle. As for KOH being a problem for processing kelp, I didn’t know that, but it sounds like a straight pH adjustment that is not using NaOH which would be much worse. One doesn’t use kelp for K but for all the other trace nutes and enzymes. And have you heard of the mineral Humalite? It is the freshwater version of Leonardite. It’s is almost like coal but is about 65% Humic acids. So just a powdered mineral to provide Humic acids. Only mined here in Alberta apparently. Molasses, compost and humalite go a long way even if you skip the kelp. Cheers, and awesome plants.

Wow, nice. So my standard outdoor grower question is: what latitude are you at? I’m way far North at 53N and I’m wondering if this could be done here. Thanks, nice work, and good luck with the rest of it. Oh, and you should check out using malted barley to provide P, K and enzymes making it perfect for flowering stage. Almost as wonderfully cheap and effective as molasses and kelp for growing. 👍

@Northern_Ent
, Thank you. I am at 33N. Not far from San Diego. July thru September is sunny, 98-109F and very dry (as low as 11rh). No bottled nutes can beat that. If I have the right genetic, I can grow a 5lb plant in the plain dirt. Hard to believe, I know... but it's happened 3 times. Pretty sure this girl is going to get me between 3-4 lbs. and yes, that is great advice. Next year I will use "whole" organics instead of "processed" organics. Omri labeled bottles and packages are better than chems but not truly organic. Did you know Humic, fulvic and seaweed are all processed with potassium hydroxide? That's why they have a K rating of 1. That stuff is nasty and not organic. No offense to my fellow growers. We all do what we can. I wish everyone a beautiful harvest!
