@jellyjelly, also, as for the cover crop, I'm just using the BuildaSoil 12-seed Clover Cover Crop Blend, which includes: Flax - Carter; Clover - Yellow Sweet, White Dutch, Medium Red, Crimson; Lentils - Indianhead; Millet - White Proso; Vetch -Hairy, Common; Cowpeas - Red Ripper; Buckwheat - Mancan; Pea - Forage
@jellyjelly, hi, thank you! Yes, most of the amendments I’m using are from Buildasoil. However, when I was mixing the 240 gallons of living soil, I did source much of what I could locally, to save as much money as I could. For the soil recipe I did roughly 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 compost (80% compost, 20% worm castings), and 1/3 aeration (perlite and rice hulls). I was able to get a cubic yard of compost for only 45, and found local worm castings for 5/bucket (I just had to provide my buckets haha). I used 20 lb of craft blend, 40 lb of mineral mix, and a cubic ft of rice hulls, all from Buildasoil. For the majority of my aeration I went with 11 c ft of perlite (way cheaper than getting pumice or lava rock from Buildasoil). Over time my plan is to amend with more pumice and lava rock,, but for now perlite was what allowed me to afford to mix so much soil at once. Happy Growing!!!
