@@pepitogrillo, yeah totally .... the v2 smart controller the documentation does not do it justice ... it's a Linux soc running openwrt and an atmega microcontroller on the same board with lots of interfacing. comes with all the software on the board, and an api backend for data operations.

@@pepitogrillo the odroid n2 is a decent machine even though they are stingy on io. have you tried using a soc running embedded Linux such as openwrt. rather than an sbc with a full os like ubuntu on a sd card . that is the basis for the v2 is - these use busybox so much fun.

, i opened up a pulse device for fun ... they are actually really complicated - i think more than they need to be .. the sensors are embedded on the board .. i don't think there is anything easy about hacking them also the software is proprietary in a strange multi-layered way. but if you mean - like say create a better device for users and the community ... well, i think i just grew an extra pair of ears. i think we can make design a better device specific to a grower needs

... i use a v2 smart controller ... designed for such applications rather than edu. .. its a shameless plug-in.

@@pepitogrillo, thank you for your offer to help ... i think professional titles are overrated ... once you program you are a programmer. i like the power and freedom of Linux, especially in embedded physical computing devices. this is sorta the first time i am using linux in a grow - i think the creators were stoners - the girls love being grep'ed and awk'ed i could do with help on dashboards for my doser and for the hpa garden. i will send a pm to you .. thank you so very much.

@@pepitogrillo, i found the %rh response on the pulsegrow devices slows or stops when exposed to high humidity levels for appreciable durations it is normal with cheap humidity sensors as humidity sensors are made from overlapping plates/membranes that tend to oversaturate from moisture - similar to how glass fogs. they are otherwise beautiful devices ...

@@pepitogrillo, hehe ... thank you for the kind words ... it's all a fun game for the child within ... i would feel really humbled and lucky with your help in coding and development, etc.. in return, i can help you build a smart controller for your setups ... shukran ...

hey @@pepitogrillo, i use a custom controller for monitoring and controlling that i design and build myself from a v2 smart controller - i can add any sensors to this. currently, i only have environmental sensors (par,co2, ambient temp, and ambient humidity) connected to the hpa garden and relays for controlling the lights(16hhrs) and hpa pump (2 seconds every 5 mins). i will be adding sensors for monitoring the hpa components, irrigation and drainage next. the controller will show icons (with different colors for state), trending graphs, send alerts, allow remote controller, video monitoring, and even timelapse as shown in the week 3 images. i use the same controller to build the doser also shown in week 3 as for the leaks ... well, i am double heavy-handed when it comes to teflon, in fact, i have to be careful so the parts can still mate after tefloning ... the nutrients at 100psi will find and showoff any crappy connections including throwing them away - many of the leaks were from numerous push connect tubes i had that i kept on disconnecting/reconnecting. shorting tubes, reducing connectors, cleaning and rebuilding things up helped with leaks .. apart from the ones caused by stupid. still, thank you for the suggestion.
