@@GreenHeart420, Heh, yeah you are right, I was having a bit of a brain-sizzle that night. I guess I'm still quite new to this, and I'm pretty fixated on mastering the art of growing the highest yield and so I can easily overthink small things. To be honest, over the last several grows I'd sort of come to the conclusion that in general, the plant is going to produce a fairly predictable yield, and that unless there were major screw ups, most folks were probably getting fairly similar results regardless of technique or any specifics of the growing method. But then I noticed the correlation with the look of the GSC, and it struck me that maybe it was the opposite, and perhaps the treatment of the plant, especially in the seedling stage, could have dramatic impact on final yield. I guess the only real answer is going to be found by doing some comparative grows with clones, and measuring final yields after varying nutrient levels for different sets of plants. Not sure that I'm going to ever get around to doing that, but given how much it is bugging me, maybe I will. I generally haven't had any major struggles with my grows so far (except the first time, when I drowned 14 seeds), and I had a pretty spectacular yield with my Zkittles grow (just under 1 kilo in 12 weeks from a 4by4 tent) so I'll keep on trying to get my coco technique perfected. Although I am keen to automate the watering with a pump fed halo system, and also automate the collection of run-off with some full 4x4 sized trays I've found online. That would cut my workload by a massive amount. Speaking of which, I guess I better go hand-water the tents now... Thanks for the feedback, it's good to be reminded not to take it quite so insanely seriously LOL, I tend to get a bit over-focused on things I think I'm seeing. In the end, the harvests are pretty sweet, and it's actually supposed to be an enjoyable hobby (which in large part it really is).
@@GreenHeart420, Cheers :) I've been quite interested in how the four Girl Scout Cookiers have grown. At first this tent was going to be all Lemon AK, but I killed two sprouts trying to get the seed shell off them, so I put down two GSC seeds. Then a week later two of the Lemon AK seedlings just stopped growing at the first set of leaves, so I pulled them and put down two more GSC seeds.. which was a good idea except I've been too lazy to give all the plants specific nutrient strengths for their age, so they have all just got whatever the older Lemon AK plants were getting. Which means the first two GSC got fed a nutrient than was for plants 5 days older, and the last two GSC got nutrient strength that was for plants 11 days older. ---- THE INTERESTING BIT of all that is that the first two GSC look very similar to each other in size and flowerr production, they are a bit small, but still have a quite solid looking branches full of bud on them. However the last two GSC look very similar to each other, but have grown taller, and grown longer branches, but much less budsites, that the first two GSD. Also, they also seem to be maturing faster than the first two GSC. It makes me think that high nutrient levels for seedlings in their first week or two must have caused the stunting in the size of the first two GSC, and the even higher levels caused branch stretch, faster maturation and much less budsites on the last two GSC. The last two GSC have developed similar features to a lot of my blackberry plants.. sort of long spindly branches with sparse small budsites that feature over developed swollen flowers with a low final yield. And I know for sure I overfed my blackberry crop for the first 3-4 weeks because I wasn't ready for how little nutes they actually wanted. Ultimately this is all just a guess, but the way the first two GSC look identical, and the second two GSC look identical makes me think that giving seedlings too high a nutrient strength appears to have a dramatic negative impact on how they will develop. Hmmmmm
