Minor Updates: Grow Lights and Grow Techniques

Hi Growers!

We are happy to announce a few new updates!

Now you are able to log and track your lighting. All you need to do is to select the brand and wattage when creating your Diary.

The 'Grow Lights' section similar to Breeders and Nutrients is coming soon too!

We have also moved 'Grow Techniques' to the 'Week' module. Now you can track your applied techniques with regards to the time they have been performed. We hope you enjoy the new updates!

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the website? Let us know in the comments below!

i think it's a wonderfull addition, not only myself, but many many people will be happy to see how big, or how small our lights are, and be able to see the results of the use of it. Thanks

A lot of Bookmarks I have are going to Error 404, not found. Problem is I cannot get rid of them from my bookmarks list!!! I have lots of them and I think twice now following a diary because I may not be able to get rid of it off my list!

The operability is improved and it is easier to use. I thought it was a very good renovation update. Thank you very much.

Outdoors plants get 6 to 8 hours of dirrect intense sunlight. For the mornings and afternoons the plants only get ambient light . I'm now using 50 watts for 3 hours then 200 watts for 6 hours , back to 50 watts of LED lights for last 3 hours. So far flowers show same level of development with far less heat issuses and much less energy consumed . All I'm doing is mimicking nature . Why 18 hours of intense indoor light ? Also UV and far red light . Waste of energy . Not needed . Plants need the same spectrum humans see with . Measured in lumens . My personal findings are that 2000 lumens at plant canopy . Measured at the tops of the plants . Gives the correct amount of light .

Add soils to the dropdown list . I would like to search users based on the brand of soil they use. That would really help narrow down growers growing the same way I am

I know this may sound strange but.... I'd like to see a section for marking the phase of the moon! Many "old timers" still swear by it!

A big hello to all GD staff! I have recently registered on your site and I must say that it is beautiful and satisfies many requests from both experienced and non-expert growers ... The site is also very complete on the choice of equipment for the grow room and for the cultivation methods and you are certainly looking for to improve it more and more and thank you also for this because this site is a real starting point to be able to compare with people from all over the world and always new stimuli to cultivate better !!! If I can I would like to give my suggestion in the meantime on the choice of the cultivation method there is no coconut option but only soil in general instead I think that coconut has particular characteristics and should have its own distinct option from the others ... and yes it could also put the personalization of the culture medium, that is, together with the choice of the soil that is soil or coconut, the perlite option could also be added and the percentage of perlite used in the compost could also be added, or even dolomite lime or expanded clay humus etc. could be added. ... or at least being able to choose the brand of the soil used by comparing these data from various growers, you could see how the plants respond especially among autoflowering plants that should prefer coconut for their rapid expansion and photoperiodics to understand how much the supply could vary of these elements and their percentages in a crop. And you could also do a contest on the various types of cultivation! Then also another problem that I have seen is the choice of nutrients which even if from the same company must be added one at a time instead of being able to take more products from the same cataologist and having to redo the procedure for each additive especially for those who use many different ones brand or single company must repeat the same procedure every time you could not add more products at once and after giving (ok). And the last thing I would like to tell you is in the choice of the lamps given the continuous development and experimentation of the uvb and uv light I think you could put the option uvb or uv a or both because uvb to understand the true benefit that these lamps used in the right proportions of time of use and power they could add terpenes and quantities of resin to our crop in terms of thc and it could also be possible to specify beyond the amount of Co2 also how the farmers add Co2, that is through Co2 bags which is all chemical or the bag of compost with mushrooms or through Co2 cylinders. I hope I haven't bored you too much and I thank you enormously for all the work done so far and on the quality of your site. Regards kush420.

Really like the changes. One caveat if you’re doing a single strain diary but it shares a tent, it can only use one light per diary. It would be great if you could you grow multiple strains with the same light and still create a single strain diary. Just so you can get a true watt per gram.

In the grow light part it would be awesome for added custom cob setups as I dont see any optic cobs
