We've got a super cool update for you!
We always listen to what you say, my people. Your ideas, feedback, comments are very important. You make this site grow as well as you do it with your beautiful plants. We are all creating something amazing here, and thanks to you, we become better, stronger and happier all together as a community.
Today we have a couple of new features in the Diary Keeping section of the site. Now you have your EC, dry weight, TDS, pot sizes, lamp to plant distance, Solution and Substrate temperature, Night temeperature, watering volume PLUS some new awesome icons!
We want to know what you think about these new features, so smoke a joint to our designer's creativity, and leave a couple of comments below. Let us know if you like the new growing conditions. Is there anything else you would like to be added? Let us know right here! We are here for you to be happy, and for your plants to grow HIGH!

I would also like to add that not many people have the money/time/space to buy the right eqiutment to have everything to a T.... now it feels more of a contest, than people sharing there hobby and helping each other Grow the best weed possible... with that said I've seen people grow amazing plants in carbord boxes or pimped out Pc cases, now you can't possible tell me they have the best condions (but they still grow some amazing weed and some times better than the people that do take soil temps ect.....
I also think that when it comes to diary of the month there should be more of a view included to determine who wins, like check votes for fake accounts also for diarys with missing weeks ect, or diarys made with In one week with a 12 week grow diary? Dosent seem very fair..... Also please make Votes permenent as there is alot of votes placed and removed like a million times, ((I don't see anything wrong with asking for votes "I did it like most of us did but I asked people to look at my diary and if I deserved it or not and only to people that had liled/commented/ or i had talk to weeks before my harvest))... because it's very hard to be noticed when so many master grower (or gd famous people so to speak) that are always online steal the spot light and new growers or people new to GD are shadowed so it's harder to be noticed... so for that reason a don't see why asking for votes or for people to view your diary should be a bad thing or frowend upon...
Also people will Google temps ect and fill in the missing condisons in order to get a green diary so the information wouldn't be true and misleading on the diray :expressionless::expressionless::expressionless::expressionless::expressionless:

@JieGrow, noted about the voting as well. Thanks so much, you brining up issues here helps a lot make this site grow and be more useful and convenient for our Growers.
All in all I think it's good. But as some of the other people have said we should be able to pick and choose like in my case my team Dirtbag grow I'm outside yet it asks how far away my lights are from the plant so I Googled it and I put the number down,
58924835 billion inches and if I didn't put anything in the space the conditions wouldn't turn green. Other stuff like soil temp, solution temperature, and CO2. I'm watering with plain water from a garden hose so the temperature does very. For CO2 I put 300 due to the fact naturally found in our atmosphere we have 300 to 400 PPM. And if I didn't feel these things out my conditions would be incomplete. But I really like that you're upgrading and making some nice changes. Thanks for listening.

For newbies to the community it may be a bit intimidating...
I think for those that may want to simplify the input, is just letting the fields blank.

@Sillyasswhitedude, some use controllers for temp, humidity, CO2 among others. I agree it is good to have. I want to be able to reference another's diary and actually compare. This cannot be done without these very basic measures. If someone don't know what their solution temperature is or medium temperature then they should read more "how to" books to see just how important medium temperature really is for healthy growing!
@CANNASIM, I put 0 in that field because I was not sure...my next research and inquiries were about to be in that area...everything else is a breeze just more work...IM GAME!
@Sillyasswhitedude, :upside_down_face::+1::skin-tone-2::facepunch::skin-tone-2: You nailed my mindset bro, there are fields that serve a specific kind of grower, such as CO2 in this case in my opinion we can set a standard value or we reserch the location occuring co2 in the area. Cheers
I agree with most growers that have already voiced concerns for these new stats. While some of the data would be cool to have, I am not going to measure solution temp, night air temp (let me screw with my photoflower night schedule to get the temp!) or substrate temp. If they are required, they will be so guestimated it would not be of any valuable data. I do like the icons though! Pot size I can see needed along with smell once in flower. Maybe lamp to plant distance even though that should be changing so often with static lights or stay the same with raising the lights.
Also seconding @JieGrow with the voting needs to be permanent. Use it as a bargaining chip all you want, but only once per vote. Not a give and take system only to do it to another person over and over again.
Funny thing me and a couple of growers discussed this subject just now..
First i must say that its very good to see you are open for changes and recommendations, and i admire and look forward to each update...
This time with all new updates there are some not logic things, like SMELL - we dont have smell for a couple of weeks, so if i put weak or strong smell for a seedling its the same coz she dont smell :D. And if i dont put any smell someone will say my diary is incomplete and not eglible for voting lol..
Soil temperature also changes through day and night coz it depends on the surround temp right?
Night temp in my case i dont know coz my intake air hose is connected to outside and it also changes gradually up and down during night while i am sleeping :D
This is just personal review, looking forward to see other ppl comments, maybe i am missing the bigger picture :v:
You have a point there, @WhiteWidow. Definitely noted about the smell.
I think it's a good thing. Maybe it's better to be optional to some users. But any improvement is beneficial. The world is evolving and we have to keep up with it.:+1::facepunch::pray:
i like having the extra options, but its annoying i input every selection and still get a yellow face for conditions instead of green face?

@rayuki, that is true having the same issue @GrowDiaries .
I preferred the old way :expressionless::pensive: I think some stuff should be optional (if you add in the full info or not) some of the stuff seems pointless and over the top for it to be mandatory to have a green diary.... yesterday was my 1st diary my condisons didn't have a wee green smilely face, when I know my condisons are fine....

Indeed some of them should be optional, and not counted as much towards the 'smiley face' :) Thanks a lot for letting us know about the issue, Growers! We will get on it ASAP.

Hey guys, I think there may be a problem with the Daytime Nighttime temperatures in Fahrenheit versus solution and substrate temperatures. I see a Daytime Nighttime temperature say 72 degrees Fahrenheit and then substrate temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit which were pretty much mean their roots are frozen and their solution is frozen or very close to it. So something's awry and not making sense. Thanks for your time have a nice day.
@Teamdirtbag2,good info to have to dial In a perfect grow, but I have never experienced a perfect grow, non the less your doing a great service to many people. love and enjoyed all diary's, wish I had time to read them all,lol but alas I got to work to pay for my hobby:sunglasses:

Great job on the update. However, I would like to see an option for DWC. The new system as it is has pot size (in my case 3"dia x 2" height so .04 gallons but the roots have 15 gallons of nutrient water) I understand that this works well for everything except true hydroponics (deep water culture). Also I run multiple type and intensity lights for the most complete spectrum but I have to choose 1 for the light section. Wet weight could really be gotten rid of it has absolutely no relevance unless you are going to use a drying rack and have stripped all the nugs from the stems as well as fully trimmed them.
