Purple Punch Auto

Purple Punch Auto ist sehr schön gewachsen. Insgesamt bin ich mit dem grow zufrieden. Die Pflanze hat eine Menge an Blüten produziert, viel mehr als erwartet. Die Blüten haben allerdings einen hohen Blattanteil. Optisch und geschmacklich ansprechende Blüten.

I harvested last strain which was PP from Barneys. Plants was enormous but buds are rather leafy. I had oportunity to test one of PP i harvested early (mold) and high is fantastic.

Really nice flavour, very original, will definitely try more of Barney seeds. Generally I am very happy with the harvest

Long overdue review! fruity hard nugs... truly amazing rerolled for myself a large batch for curing in blunt paper and will have it in my cigar humidor.

Evening stuff. Relaxing and a bit giggly. The taste is a bit minty.

I ended up with a mutant that struggled her entire life, I can't blame the breeder, just happens sometimes. Hopefully I end up with 3 or 4 zips of some nice nugs, but I will definitely run her back someday.

I am enjoying this. Just took the first dab. Nice high. A little spacey. The taste is very good. It seems to come on with a nice up and then level off pretty well.

Despite all the CalMag issues, the strain itself seems to have produced some fine terpenes and nice and fat buds.

I try only this quality, because I love to improve myself on it, before change it.. this time I’m really satisfied, a beautiful purple colour (some brown/purple, I will see..😅) super resinous, love it..

As the plant was an outdoor grow, there were some pests that were very attracted to the plant. Mostly white flies and leaf miners. Though the plant was very strong to pests.

12/09/22 So. The end of the growth. This will cover both of the purple punches. Fairly average growth in terms of difficulty; Purple punch pheno #1; Pretty average growth overall. I would have rated this plant to be easy to grow, but it seemed to encounter lockout briefly at day 30 of flower which caused several leaves to yellow. It could have also run out of Nitrogen due to insufficient top-dressing. Another issue with this plant is that the buds became too fat for the plant, causing the branches to need to be tied to dowels in order to not droop over at a 90 degree angle. Otherwise this plant was a joy to grow. The colors never really came out like in the pictures of how the plant was supposed to look, but that is not unusual. Fade also didn't go super hard but I believe this was due to my late top-dressing. I will not be tasting these buds for probably 6ish weeks or so but they smell amazing currently. Like the taste of captain crunch in some cold milk. The plants also looked pretty good, being well stacked with well-developed colas throughout the plant. Purple punch pheno #2; This plant was a joy to grow. Never had any issues I needed to address, held itself up even with soda can sized buds, and had those massive buds to begin with. The only negatives I can think of for this plant are that the plant was foxtailing the whole flower cycle. The plant is also noticeably less frosty than the other two, though I have heard rumors that on most plants the fatter the buds the less the potency. It is probably untrue, but it would make logical sense. Will be giving a smoke report of this plant in about 7 weeks after dry and cure. EDIT(12/15/2022); These two plants have been drying for 6 days now. According to my wood moisture meter, which is being very inconsistent, these buds are still around 20% moisture. Once they drop around to 10-12% I will be trimming them. The fatter the buds the longer the dry. These buds are not crazy fat right now but the 2nd pheno has some decent sized buds. EDIT(12/17/2022); Trimmed both phenos today. They were both overdried, just like the plant I trimmed yesterday. Everything should have been trimmed one day earlier. YIELD: Pheno#1(Smalls); 24.5grams/0.88OZ Pheno#1(Mids); 46.4grams/1.66OZ Pheno#1(Highs); 53.0grams/1.89OZ Pheno#1(Total); 123.9grams/4.425OZ Pheno#2(Smalls); 26.6grams/0.95OZ Pheno#2(Mids); 14.2grams/0.51OZ Pheno#2(Highs); 96.2grams/3.44OZ Pheno#2(Total); 137grams/4.89OZ Total between two plants; 260.9grams/9.31OZ NO TRIM OR LARF INCLUDED IN WEIGHING. SOME OF THE LARFIER BUDS WERE IN THE SMALLS BUT ALL OF THE REAL LARF WAS DISCARDED.

This was a treat to grow and smells great, fruits and berries aroma in the jar. Smoke is nice and strong.

I put the buds in jar with boveda 58% for 15 days, after drying, cause I was away from home. Then I come back and for the past week I have burped jars every day. soft taste, not too tasty. a little disappointed with the effect .. quite bland. Will I have done something wrong that compromised it?

This could be due to harvesting at 17 weeks, Barney's Farm indicates: "Flowering Time: 50 – 60 days from sprout" so at 121 that's double.. I likely harvested too late however amber trichomes never appeared, apparently some strains are prone to this. I'm not a fan of how hairy the buds are but no big deal. The smoke is a bit couch-lock-y. Buds smell OK but nothing like during flower. Strength is decent, not weak, not amazing. Drying and curing remain the biggest challenges for me despite doing it "by the book" (60F / 60% RH / mild breeze / fresh air). The nugs post cure smell OK but in my opinion, weak. The yield was beautiful. My trimming needs to improve. Overall I like this strain and would grow it again, but would harvest sooner.. even though I still do not know how I possibly could have known when that is. I took testers along the way but it's possible it was already overdone by then. The aroma during its grow was quite unique, I wish the end result would reflect this some, in my opinion it does not. I am my worst critic and seek to improve so I remain critical of my results.
