Welcome to my Fast Buds sponsored shootout and living organic soil v coco side by side. I also plan to use this grow to my full advantage regarding a few age old nagging questions about methods. I have had a keen interest in L.O.S ( supersoil) since reading a few threads a while back on how amazing and productive it can be. After too much research and procrastinating I had to give it a go. I have been a decades coco/nft grower and recently threw my hat in the rdwc ring too. I have avoided soil due to the overwatering worry ( heavy handed chimp brain !) and the best potting soil/feeds. Catching up on the advances in indoor soil gardening and organics led me too subcools supersoil recipes to name a few but being a town dweller with farms everywhere around me still drew blanks on a lot of the ingredients needed and where the hell I could even begin to get them from. Thankfully , commercial savvy has now made buying it in ready to use and with a full range of beneficial bacteria ect available in amendments from a grow shop here in the uk. ecothrive have realised the potential for us to dive into this medium with all the mixing , measuring and resourcing. I bit the bullet and £150 later I now have 4 x37Litre pots that will be used for as long as I want to feed the soil for without EVER needing nutrients again potentially. The coco has also had charge mixed in to encourage the bennies to colonize there too. I will be using the shogun nutes that I know do the business with coco to compare with for yield , growth and taste. I have 3 seeds each of 4 Fast Buds Strains to use as a control for the grow and am journaling each strain in their own diaries. This statement will be used to start each one as the information is identical at this point but following this I will do them individually. I am now starting their second week since opening the seed packets , straight into soaked and shook root riot cubes and into the heated propagator. They had all showed their heads by end of day 3 and a couple needed helmet surgery to open up without being hindered . I have has them in the prop for a few days but they needed to get settled as they were popping roots out all over the cubes. They have now been in their final pots for 2 days complete and starting their 3rd today at day 8 since planting in cubes. I am impressed with the speed and success of these girls already (12 of 13 germinated) . Well done fast buds. So here we go folks , any comments , ideas ,questions , advice are always welcome and I hope we can have some fun experimenting with defol v non defol , topping v fimming v bending and any other curiosities along the way. Transplanting today into 3 gallon with some dry organic amendments. Coco, perlite, gaia green, EWC, Mycorrhizae will be the weapons of choice. Currently under 4000K light might change to 3000K as only 2 x 3 or 5 gallon pots will fit under the preferred veg light. Main focus has now shifted to this new run will try and get her ready for flower 2-3 weeks from today. Cheers to all fellow growers.

The trim was easy✂️ The smell is very nice with citrus,pine & Diesel🍋🌲⛽️ The buds are fat & sticky full of resin🤩

Plants have recovered well from lockout, and have been topped. LST will start in 1 week. As stated previously have removed silica for now.

Tangerine Band is growing great. I defoliated her some today. I will be changing her to flowering times next week. This is the only one that has heat stress,maybe because I was starting with 24/0 and maybe wasn’t good idea,now it’s running 20/4 and seems to work fine.Stick to 20/4

This lady has turned into an absolute beast, starting to be really frosty with trichomes and, believe it or not, I can actually smell the purple lemonade in it, this has became a really beautiful plant and I only expect it to go maybe another two weeks. The size of this thing is unbelievable though, so big for an auto. Can’t wait to get it into jars!

Even that my lady got stuned at veg... she is making nice buds.

Week 16 - 06/28 - 07/04 Light - 200 W HPS & 265 W LED Day Temperature - 78 F Night Temperature - 68 F Humidity - 40 +/-5 D59 Flower - Came home from vacation to some fat sugar coated buds! I flushed them with FloraKleen and molasses, this should be the last one before I snip down the main colas. Since they are close to harvest, I spent about an hour defoliating so harvest will go a little quicker. D60 Flower - Took the ladies out to breathe, take some pics, and snipped the tops off the Royal Gorilla's. I'm going to allow the Hulkberry's to mature a little longer and probably do the same thing and snip the tops. D61 Flower - Unfortunately HB #3 hermies on me, she had a bunch of "bananas". So I cut her down and hung her to dry, Sucks to lose her but she will do well in some RSO! Unmanicured wet weight was 251 g. I am also going to be testing out the bowl bud trimmer I just ordered on these buds to make sure they dont damage the buds too much.

Day 45 - Found the GC's main branch broken this morning. My error was tying it down too much. Never had plants so big so I'm still learning the best way to LST them in order to fit them in my closet. Takin the broke with philosophy: I never topped a plant, so I'm curious to see how she will develop from now and how much she will yield. Keep growing and learning every day 🙏🏼💪🏼🌱 Day 48 - Ladies are stretching much more every day, going to be two big girls 😋😋😋

She's looking really good so far and the smell she leaves on your hands after handling her, incredible! Her old fan leaves are dropping off and today is the last day I feed her nutes. It'll just be flushing from now on and checking in on the trichomes every once in a while.
