This week marks the final phase of flowering for both strains, and it’s been an incredible run. The colas are fully swollen, trichomes are mostly cloudy with around 10–15% amber, and the terpene intensity is off the charts. Every movement near the canopy releases that unmistakable scent — fruity, spicy, and heavy with resin. 24K Gold is showing her signature golden hues now. The buds are compact, sticky, and sparkling with trichomes. Pistils have mostly turned orange and curled in tightly, showing clear maturity. Gelato 33 looks equally stunning — thick, frost-covered buds with a creamy-sweet scent and purple undertones emerging under the lights. Her structure remained open enough to prevent mold despite the high density. Both plants handled the last nutrient increase (8 ml/L Canna Coco A+B) perfectly — no signs of stress or nutrient burn. Flipped these girls to flower on day 26. Most of them have been looking good and growing pretty fast. I topped off the reservoir and added a little maxibloom. All 8 plants are drinking a total of about 2 gallons of water per day now. I kinda slacked on training them this week, but I will try to get them spread out some over the next week. I have been pulling a few fan leaves from the bottom so they can get good air circulation.

How did you create/breed Freakshow? A. Methodical selection, line breeding, and culling is the short answer. Read our About page for more details. Q. Is it an indoor or outdoor type? A. Everything I've ever worked has been outdoors, including of course Freakshow. It has been our experience that outdoor (or sun grown, as it's recently being referred to) cultivars seem to perform extremely well under artificial conditions. The opposite is not always true; indoor clones often give an outdoor grower headaches because they don't always make the transition smoothly. Also, considering the amount of continuous shameless hybridization that has occurred in the last 40 yrs., any modern kind could easily contain over 40 kinds. In the case of Freakshow, it's much more limited because the ancestry is largely older "Sativas" that didn't go through as much outcrossing. In the 70s in Santa Cruz, Haze was a favorite among surfers for the pure energy and I still have (greatly improved) stock of it around, simply because even when I made hybrids with it I always kept the original in pure form for obvious reasons. Q. What is the psychoactive effect like? A. Like the flavors, many people have commented that the "buzz" is somewhat different than other mainstream types out there. It's not entirely out of the scope of imagination that given that this strain has new alleles in so many other respects, that it could also contain new, unique cannabinoids, as well as new and unique terpenoids, some of which may not even be among the standard 16 or so that the average lab is testing for. Aside from the up, cerebral, energetic boost, some report a mild time/space warp effect. Creativity and idea induction should be mentioned, for sure. Freakshow has the pure energy effect and greatly alters perception to the positive side, so definitely destroys depression. Appetite suppression is a side effect, but the enjoyment of food is enhanced. I personally will attest to all of the above. We all have different receptor profiles, so these are just generalizations. This includes 0botritis, PM, various mites and insects, soil fungus, etc. We haven't heard any complaints along those lines so far, so if anyone has any problems, especially with a rigorous IPM regimen in place, we would like to hear about it. And if anyone can attest to the extreme level of resistance it seems to have we'd love to hear about that as well. Q. Does it contain web-leaf genetics? A. I thought I better clarify this because there are a few people thinking that because of an article "Growing Marijuana that Doesn't look like Marijuana" that mentions that I had worked web-leaf types years ago and had eventually turned that into Freakshow. This is incorrect and I'm needing to get ahold of the writer to have him change it. When I read the piece and saw the mistake I figured it didn't matter that much, that the actual method of breeding could just remain a "trade secret". Recently, I noticed online that a posting, "Freakshow only exists because of duckfoot" by Curious Cannabis Connoisseur, where he explains how I developed Freakshow using Duckfoot. Let me explain, about 20 yrs. ago a friend gave me a jar of seeds labeled "BC Bigbud" and I sprouted flats of hundreds to look for oddities and had found one web-leaf pheno which we named Webster. It was a female so I bred it to a normal leaf male and began selecting and stabilizing a line of Webster. About 5 or 6 generations later I had nailed it to 100% webs and had also stabilized it for a deep purple color and a nice "gingerbread" terp profile. I was busy working other lines at that point so I put Webster in the library. Also, I was having a hell of a time getting a pheno of it that flowered to my satisfaction. (it seemed to finish with a limited number of calyxes). I knew I would have to outcross it to something with a big tasty bud and restabilize it for web-leaf, and I no longer had the original BC Bigbud. I still have the Webster seeds, and trust me the thought has crossed my mind to make the cross with Freakshow, but why? Why mess around crossing things just to create something even weirder? I have heard that the "Duckfoot" also doesn't bud up well so maybe there's a correlation there. Anyway, people can do what they want to and I will too, but crossing Freakshow with some low-THC crap like ABC is in my opinion idiotic. I worked extremely hard stabilizing and perfecting a beautiful new subspecies and I believe it should be kept pure. I won't go on a rant here about the rampant crossing and the lack of line-breeding in the cannabis world in the last several decades, or where this will eventually lead us, but I will say that it's not in a good direction. Bottom line....Freakshow has no web-leaf genes, it was made using top-grade tropical narrow-leaf drug (NLD) cultivars. Q.Why is Freakshow patented? A. Although I and most others (including all the folks at HSC) believe in and subscribe to the concept of "open sourcing" because sharing in cannabis genetics was always the cultural norm, it was decided that Freakshow should be protected (1) because it is a novel and unique, not a preexisting strain (or even subspecies), (2) To keep the greedy corporate big boys from exploiting it, (3) To maintain control of the genetic refinement of it in all future generations. She's doing great, recover well on each training. Struggling with tent rotation lol, so She's still in the veg tent, one week left in flower tent for current crop but I want change my lights on/off time so waiting on flower tent to be free.. Training has kept her relatively small though. She topped herself 2 times after I topped her once. Thought I would have harvested already, but from the little I'm able to see, there still aren't really many, if any amber colored thc crystals, so I might wait some more days. The second plant remains 1 week or so behind but might soon catch up and they could come down at the same time. Still only flushing with water, some leafs are starting to curl and dry off. I'm just a bit paranoid that it is time to cut, I'm just not seeing the amber color because the camera can't pick it up. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Day 15 / 15.04. For the start of week 3 of Veg I decided to transplant the plants into their final 15l autopots. Because I only have space for 3 plants I threw out the runty Super Lemon Haze plant. I transplanted all of them into BioBizz Biomix and sprinkeled mycorrhizae on the roots. I watered them in with 300ml of nutrient solution at 6.5 Ph and 1.1 mS/cm TDS. The VPD has now reached 0.8 kPa. With the transplant I also switched the small light the plants were under to the Mars Hydro TS-3000 on 20% brightness. This means plants' DLI has been bumped up to about 20 mol/m2/d. Day 17 / 17.04. The big light has blown the third relay of the smart system in a row. This means lights turned on about half a hour late today. Day 19 / 19.04. Today I topped all of the plants at the fourth node. I initially planned to top on day 21 but they did not experience any shock from transplant so I got to do it today. Day 21 / 21.04. For the end of week 3 veg I filled up the autopot reservoir and turned it on. I'm expecting some even greater growth now.

May 23rd - Day 93 : So intricate moment here. I'm considering harvesting one of the two, but a friend is telling me to wait till it's 20% amber or at least more cloudy. He's an experienced grower and has been of a precious help from the start. This grow is dedicated to my boy Droomba. I'm at week 7 of flowering and Fastbuds says 7 weeks. I'm going to push it for a week or two

This is a fantastic train, and I am excited to see how the drying process goes, I used the New Horti Line from Green Planet Nutrients; this was dead easy to use, and extremely stable, harvesting 10 plants grown in a 4x4, and the yield was fantastic, but could have doubled that with additional space, I was still able to put 2314 grams of wet flowers into the dry tent. I am trying to keep the environment as close as possible to 60F / 60% RH, but with the current temperatures, I will be lucky to keep it around 65. I am looking forward to the terpenes moving towards the skunky aromas.

Day 55 - 18/11/19 i still think another 1-2 weeks for this one, getting a jewelers loupe for the beginning of week 9 so i can tell exactly where were at in terms of harvest :) anyone got any thoughts on this little plant? have a look at the photos and videos and let me know in the comments below :) oh and i finally nailed what this strains smell is - tropical hubba bubba gum with cheese :'D Day 59 - 22/11/19 Got my jewelers loupe 2 days ago and ive been having a look at them. its pretty hard to see for a newbie grower. ive looked at harvest guides online and seen pictures of clear, cloudy and amber trichomes. mine look mostly cloudy (60%) and slightly glassy (40%) with barely any ambers. i may be wrong but the reason i think its cloudy is that it looks white against the leaves instead of see through or like glass. so going on this for my first trichome inspection im gonna harvest in the middle of next week. Smell is getting strong enough to stink out a room, still that tropical cheese smell, although its just so pungent it lingers in the rooms after bringing it out of the tent to inspect it. smell isnt a problem if you put it back in the tent and spray some air freshener stuff in the next room. the carbon filter is doing its job exactly as described along with the fan. The fan leaves started to get yellow patches and sugar leaves starting to curl. and a friend thinks its nearing the end of its life. I flushed yesterday and will flush again today to drain out any excess salts and nutes. Thanks for following along. im excited for week 9! Happy Growing!

91 Grapes day 80; Well for a plant that is supposed to grow a 65 day from sprout she still has some time left to finish. Buds are stacking in true chem91 fashion super dense and chunky but the smell is nothing short of downright grapes, it’s the same smell of grape koolaid when you tear into a package, or a grape pixie stick. Trichomes are getting thick and buds are covered in the grape residue not complaining mind you. She is showing signs of some sort of illness, or nutrient imbalance but she is in mid to late stage of flower development so just going to water her and see what happens, let her grow.
