Buds are fattening up pretty well and I've had to use more rubber garden wire and clips to keep the branches from bending over. Smell is increasing on the Northern Light but still a mild skunk on the Black Devil. Also gave the very last feeding on the plants this week so they will get nothing but water until the chop. I'm very happy with the microbe populations so I stopped feeding the sugars (molasses/agave) as the plants themselves don't get much out of them; that stuff is just for feeding the soil beasties. I had added some predatory mites several weeks ago to deal with some springtails, and the mites annihilated the population. I did find a developing larva though so there are still some around. Posted lots of microscope videos today.

Thank you to all that have helped me along this journey. All of the answers, tips, comments, likes, and other diaries have been so very motivating to me. I originally started this diary only for my own reference but I'm so pleased to have learned that others have found it helpful or interesting, for whatever reason. If you're curious about equipment see the germination page and if you have questions feel free to drop me a line. So, without further ado: Jan 19 Day 105 Harvest day! 🎉🎉 Not really knowing how to tackle the situation, I started by cutting all of the fan leaves I was able to reach. Then, I cut each branch working from the perimeter inward - which due to the way she grew, was essentially the same as working from the bottom branches of the meristem to the top. Each branch was cut, cleaned, and handled individually before moving on to the next. Decided to wet-trim most of the branches, leaving 4 fairly untouched (only fan leaves were removed). Will be interested to see the differences, if any. They're all drying/hanging near the grow tent ~45%RH, 72F (22C). It isn't completely dark though, as some light is escaping the tent into the closet where they are hanging. I'm hoping this isn't terrible but I'll be keeping my eye on them. The process took the better part of an evening but I was cautiously learning, taking breaks, and generally being fairly slow. I'm sure I'll be faster and more confident next time. Jan 27 Day 113 Drying is complete, I think. Branches were hung and dried for 8 days in a consistent 68F (20C) 40% RH. They were determined to be dried after hearing a snap when bending (not breaking) large stems and buds felt dry to touch. Sugar leaves bordering on crispy while buds still had some give / fluffiness. The flowers from previously manicured branches were relatively easily plucked. However, the dry trimming process for the unmanicured branches proved to be a bit of a pain. They have been placed in a pyrex container to cure. I'm hoping flavors and aromas that are currently lacking will develop in time. 🤞 --- Stats --- Veg time: ~45 days. Flowering time: ~60 days. Height ~18in., ~46cm. Main Bud Length: ~9in., 23cm. Harvested 16 Hangable branches and a few extra medium/small buds. Bud Wet Weight, with stems: 242g, ~8.5oz. Larf/Popcorn Sugar-leaf Wet Weight (not counted above): 18g, ~0.6oz. Leaf/Waste Wet Weight: 38g, ~1.3oz. Drying time: 8 days. Dried Weight with Stems: 70g, ~2oz. Trimmed and Dried Total Bud Weight: 50g, ~1.75oz. --- Thoughts in hindsight --- Firstly, I can't believe I haven't tried growing sooner. So rewarding in so many ways! My initial hope was to harvest an oz., so I am obviously quite happy we could surpass that mark by a good margin. This is a testament to the plant more than me of course, as I was completely inexperienced and was purposefully as hands-off as I could be comfortable with throughout her growth. I can only imagine things will improve with time. Paper-towel germination seems to be prone to more stress for myself and arguably the seedling as well. Floating in 1% H2O2 solution seems to be ideal for me. I made bad soil choices. This mixture seemed to be too dense, leading to some watering/strangulation issues mid-growth. My 2nd grow consisting of mostly coco coir seems healthier and seems easier to maintain proper hydration. Coco might also be reusable while this soil definitely seems spent now. I didn't respect pH at first and initial testing was eye-opening. That said, after simply testing water and fertilizer readings a few times, I gradually felt more comfortable with guestimating during most feedings, only testing sporadically later in her life cycle. This seemed to be fine and was a bit of a relief after early testing proved tedious every feed. I've been happy with Better-Gro orchid fertilizer. This is of course contrary to most advice, which I admit is probably for good reason. That said though, I didn't notice any major toxicities or deficiencies during her grow. So, these products seem to have worked for me and are so much more affordable than cannabis-specific fertilizers. I was quite weary about not having cal-mag, but this never seemed to be an issue in this particular case. However, I'll be keeping a similar eye on my 2nd grow in coco, which I understand may need it. Training and pruning is important. This plant was quite bushy and wild likely resulting in quite a bit of unnecessary larf/popcorn. Not to mention the additional time needed to trim when harvesting. Also regarding training, pipe cleaners can leave noticeable cuts in the stem they hold. Thickly coated flexible garden wire would likely be ideal. I need to get a loupe or magnifying attachment for the phone. Digital zoom with shaky hands is not great for checking trichomes and my 3x magnifying glass just doesn't cut it. I cannot speak toward potency or yield without more experience, but simply for the sake of a greener hue, I think I could've harvested her a week earlier. Because I left a few branches untended during dry, I was able to experience both the wet and dry trimming processes. Unless keeping leaves for extra humidity during drying, I seem to prefer wet trimming as the still supple leaves were easier to remove with less bud handling. I'll add more thoughts if/when they come. Thank you again for stopping by! 👋

the girls have really taken off, things are going well, just trying to deal with my humidity. I do not have a dehumidifier, and the outside % is +60%....so it hard to bring it down too much. I think I may need to purchase on in the near future. Also would like to get C02 going but realize I'll need a dehumidifier first, so I went cheap and designed a C02 generator from my wine making supplies. It's producing bubbles, as you can see in the video, but not too sure how much its contributing, especially since I have the fan on for controlling the humidity. but it was fun to build

Water Day (half strength) - [ ] Kangaroots, Microbe Brew, Grow Big, Distilled Water, Ph-6.8, PPM-890). - [ ] Lessons Learned - Ph Up/Down from fox farms is super strong, huge upswing in 500ml distilled water with only 0.25ml of pH Up. - [ ] I think I need to pH water before adding nutrients. Can anyone verify this please? - [ ] Will transplant to recirculating dwc soon, until then probably watering every 3-5 days with current nutrient mix. Can’t wait to get it under better lights! - [ ] Most likely going to mainline if it all works out ok. 6/10/19, DAY 26, UPDATE: Water day due to transplant Decided to change plans a bit. Transferred to big fabric pot and fox farms ocean forest soil. Will grow plant out and cut clones. Will then put clones immediately into DWC setup. This mother plant will then be moved outdoors to flower. Hopefully it all pays off! Day 29 6/14/19 Decided to clear all fan leaves that had less than five fingers then top at the 4th node and LST the remaining fan leaves. The goal is to eventually cut two clones off of the the 3rd node and mainline everything else starting at the 4th node. At least 8 colas is the goal, ideally 16. We’ll see tho, Very surprised at how quickly the leaves pointed back up toward the light and recovered from the lollipopping/topping/LST. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Lofty goals for my first grow ever, hopefully it all works out.

Week 3 tested us with some brutal heat—the garage hit 98°F and stayed in the 90s most of the week. I held off on training to avoid stressing her further, but despite the conditions, she pushed through like a champ. On Day 20, she officially hit pre-flower, with pistils showing at the nodes. And today, Day 21, I started gentle LST, giving her a soft first bend to open up the canopy. I’ll continue shaping her slowly over the next few days to avoid over-bending like last time. Watering was based on feel and pot weight. I gave her RO water three times this week—once with Cal-Mag—and she absorbed it slower than usual after I topped the pot with fresh soil. No signs of overwatering. To finish the week strong, I brewed and applied my first batch of compost tea (“Tea Party #1”) using worm castings, molasses, and fish emulsion. It steeped for ~18 hours with strong bubbling, then I diluted it 50/50 with RO and gave her a healthy feed to kick off flower. Despite the heat, she’s right on track. Week 4 starts tomorrow, and I’m hyped to watch her stretch and stack.

this week was a lil challenging, had to get out of LST due to the fact that I broke a branch and that just tripped me off and I took off all my ties , apart from that i started giving her bloom products because I noticed a few hairs. I started applying tiresias mist to one of my branches so I can get pollen sacks to produce my own fem seeds, as I plan on crossing my fortune cookies autoflower with my ak48 autoflower and creating a new strain called "DRAKO" AUTOFLOWER well till next update . O.G. Bang Bang !! out.....

Hello, my green journey companions! What a thrilling odyssey it has been, and here we are, standing on the cusp of the harvest. The time has come for the Last Report Before the Harvest for our beloved Jealousy in the Power Buds competition. Jealousy, in all her botanical magnificence, has gracefully faded out to black, and the emergence of those stunning black leaves is a sight to behold. It's like the grand finale of a cosmic ballet, where every leaf dons a cloak of darkness, contributing to the dramatic allure of our green empress. Now, let's talk trichomes—the celestial jewels of the cannabis world. As they shimmer like stars in the night sky, the majority have taken on a cloudy appearance, which is precisely where we want them. The cloudiness signals that the THC is at its peak, providing the perfect balance between potency and flavor. This is the sweet spot, where the magic of cannabinoids and terpenes converges to deliver an optimal sensory experience. The abundance of trichomes, akin to stars in the sky, is a testament to the genetic prowess and care that Jealousy has received. Each tiny crystal is like a botanical gem, contributing to the overall potency and character of the harvest. The trichomes are the storytellers of this journey, capturing the essence of the plant's journey from seed to bud. And now, let's talk about the olfactory symphony that fills the room. The mix of strawberry bubble gum and candy is nothing short of aromatic alchemy. I'm glad you have a good carbon filter; otherwise, my neighbors might start wondering if Willy Wonka decided to open a strawberry-themed factory next door! lol The joke aside, it's a testament to the incredible terpene profile Jealousy possesses, creating an olfactory experience that is both enchanting and mouthwatering. As Jealousy rests in the dark for 36 hours before harvest, it's like the calm before the storm—a botanical meditation where the plant consolidates its energy for the final act. The decision to harvest at day 63 is a culmination of careful observation, from the germination report to the present moment. Reflecting on this journey, it's been a rollercoaster of green emotions. From the excitement of germination to the strategic moves during the vegetative and flowering phases, every decision has shaped the destiny of our botanical queen. It's like watching a masterpiece unfold, stroke by stroke, leaf by leaf. And now, the traditional shout-outs. A grand salute to Zamnesia for providing the seeds that set this journey in motion, to Plagron for the nutrients that fueled the growth, to Grow Diaries for being the platform on which we share our horticultural tale, and to the incredible community for sharing in the collective knowledge that enriched our green adventure. To my fellow contestants and growers, may your own green odysseys be filled with as much joy, learning, and success as mine has been. Here's to a harvest that exceeds expectations, to the culmination of our shared green dreams, and to the anticipation of what lies beyond. Stay green, stay inspired, and keep cultivating those dreams! With true love comes happiness. Always believe in yourself and always do things expecting nothing in return, with an open heart. Be a giver, and the universe will respond in ways you can’t even dream of . Friendly reminder: all you see here is pure research and for educational purposes only. All the plants are building buds. This herercane has big pistils just like the jack herer parent. Hoping the sugar cane brings some elevated frost to it. Gave them a little beastie bloomz. I cut them off the maxigro today since the leaf tips are burning. Other than that everything is going smooth.

Day 54: The plants are growing fine, and looks healthy. It is maybe going a little slow now, but I think that's normal in the current state. I have also decided to feed the girls a bit, and from my many recommendations gathered from my grow questions (And a big thank you to all the help!), auto-flower don't eat as much as photos, so I gave the half dose of the nutrient schedule recommendations (Approx 1600 ppm). It is given to them this one time only, for each plant, and afterwards i am back to just plain water (240 ppm)

* ************** Week 8 - May 30 to June 5, 2020 - Days 50 to 56 from germination **************** * This was a good growth week. KK has many white hairs on bud sites she is filling in and bulking up. pH numbers still higher so keeping an eye on the amount of base nutes to minimize lockouts. Leaf color is doing good and she is on her way. When the medium is in the correct range she is swelling and looking happy. She has been good with heavier feedings but she is also outwardly happier when the pot is on the dry side. More oxygen around the roots is my assumption. She is a beautiful little plant and is bushy.....trimming will take a little bit of work but its all good......not bending over her top is giving her a nice shape. Lots of leaves😀 She tight nodal spacing and is certainly growing as a little bush. Great strain for those concern about height restrictions!!! Note: I have running with the Green Plant line for nutes and I am very happy........I also have some Advanced Nutrients bottles that have not been used so I am fitting them in as it seems appropriate. I really like Piranha, Voodoo, Tarantula, Sensyzme, and Overdrive......don't see me stopping having those bottles around garden. Little more detail.......... May 30/20 - Day 50 - 4L feed with Sensyzime @ 1.5ml/L = 315ppm and 4.4pH - runoff in the pot before feeding was 7.1pH. - runoff after feed was 5.8. - leaves are an okay color, not too dark, and she is doing well. - bud sites getting larger. May 31/20 - Day 51 - 4L heavier feed: CalMag & Rezin & Lwt @ 1ml/L, Rhino @ 1.5ml/L, Vita & Kelp @ 2ml/L, Massiv @ 3ml/L = 700ppm - fair bit of runoff, not checked. - good growth overnight......happy getting their medium down to 5.8 yesterday. - This girl seems happier when her pot is on the lighter side. June 1/20 - Day 52 - 3L feed with Massive @ 2ml and Dual Fuel @ 1.5ml = 1300ppm, pH 4.4 - Pulled a few leaves.....take more on weekend. - She is wide but not going to be too tall......under 24" idea I suspect. - Bud sites are a medium size and her hairs are white but not huge. June 2/20 - Day 53 - 2.5L feed: Terp & Massive @ 3ml/L, Vitathrive @ 2ml/L, Rezin & LWt & Dual Fuel @ 1.5ml/L = 1300ppm 4.6pH. - she is doing well......buds continue to get bigger. - still don't know what the hell with the pH? June 3/20 - Day 54 - 2L feed: Sensyzime @ 2ml/L = 315ppm and pH to 4.9 - she has reacted well to take some of leaves and her branches are more defined all the time. - just gave her some enzymes today to keep the roots clean of the salts. - raised her up more in the tent to get closer to light. Set her on another riser. June 4/20 - Day 55 - dry out day - her leaves are growing back quickly and she is appearing happy. - she has reacted well to the increased light intensity!! June 5/20 - Day 56 - 3L feed: AN Big Bud & Vitathrive & Rezin @ 2ml/L, Liquid Weight @ 1.5ml/L - 1050ppm and 4.4pH going in. - no run off from the girls......they are eating!! - crazy.......4.4pH going in and she loves it!! - took more leaves to expose some more sites. - She is firming up well. Not rushing to take more leaves. That will wrap up week number 8 already! The girls are fighting a few issues but overall they are performing well. Killer Kush plants would fill in a 4 x 4 nicely and create a great canopy with 6 plants. As always with the girls I have grown.......@Sweet_Seeds has selected nice characteristics for this strain!! 👍💪
