Sprouted after a few days. Plan on getting it transplanted into its final pot soon, as it’s my understanding their root can shoot down far quickly. Had the plug sitting in moist perlite to help keep it moist and not overly wet. I think the germinating mat helps, but it can dry the plugs out fairly quickly so you’ll want to keep an eye on it. Trying to only grow one because of limited space and this is my first grow! Kinda nervous lol
Seemed to suffer from a case of “helmet head” for a few days after it sprouted. I kept RH between 60 and 70%, lightly wet the seed coat, and eventually it came off. Pretty stressed out, I’m sure, and now it has pretty hot soil to get acclimated to, so keeping a close eye on it and making sure not to overwater. Just using filtered water to water it. Still don’t have my ph up and down that I ordered online so that’s frustrating. Staying optimistic. 👍🏼
She definitely seems happier with pH’d water. Gave her just a touch of molasses the feeding before last. Other than that, she’s only getting water. Also put in another smaller grow light but she seems to be appreciating the extra light.
Beginning of week 3! Not sure if yellowing is mag deficiency, her getting used to the hot soil, or a combo. Or neither lol but she’s steadily growing. Thinking by the end of this week or early next week I’ll need to start giving nutes. Thinking of starting LST soon.
4/4- Rust spots, slight curling up at edges of bottom leaves, slight wilt. Believing the cause is overwatering, so cutting water given in half and lowering frequency of watering. “Hot” soil as well, thinking if nutes will need to be given, it’ll be in flowering. Flushed it with plain distilled water and it brought soil up to around 6 pH from pH of around 5.5.
Been hitting so many snags, but figured this would happen as it’s my very first grow. I’m learning a lot, which is good. Look at how ugly the bottom leaves are. :( so rusty. Also tried to LST a lower branch and ended up snapping it! 😫was not able to reattach. It was smaller, not getting much light, and had a leaf on it that was sick looking and almost touching the soil so that’s what I keep telling myself to feel better about it lol I know I’ve stunted this girl like crazy but I’m learning. I’m trying to get a feel for how much water she needs and she’s definitely appreciating less water than what I was giving before. Leaves feel papery, though, so that’s confusing. Tips of some leaves are curling down and in other weird directions. Gave first nutes yesterday.
4/15- She’s looking much happier than when I last made a diary entry. She seems to be appreciating the nutes. Stems are getting thick. Moved the light further away too.
Dusted her with some diatomaceous earth because I started seeing aphids. Still growing fast and seeming happy. I think I wanna try an epsom salt foliar spray and see what she thinks of that. Been leaf tucking here and there, but not removing any leaves. I think I’ve stressed her out enough lol
*Correction* It was actually a fungus gnat I saw, not an aphid. I’ll wait until top 2” of soil are dry before watering again. I think I know how much to water now without overwatering.
Took LST wires off of her before she started flowering. Doing better about not overwatering, not seeing any pests. This is pretty exciting to watch, this being my first time doing this. She’s really an amazing plant. Some bottom leaves are yellowing and appearing ugly but I’ve heard that this is a normal occurrence as the plant starts to direct more of its energy toward flowering. I’m just gonna bump up my nutes a little bit every feeding and see how she handles. She loves getting epsom salt foliar sprays. I also top dressed her with more ocean forest soil, bone meal, and worm castings last week.
She seems happy this week so I’m sticking with half of what the farm fox trio feeding schedule is calling for at this point. She’s drinking about 32 oz of water per 24 hrs. It seems like if I water to the point of there being more than just a little runoff, she gives signs of being overwatered, so I’m sticking with giving less at a time. Backing off on N and increasing P and K. Continuing to give blackstrap molasses and will do so until flush. Continuing to give epsom salt foliar sprays.
5/10-Moved her down a few inches from the light cause it looked like she was starting to bleach at the top.
Was bumpy in the beginning so of course it’s gonna be bumpy in the end lmao my hypothesis is that a little laziness on my part resulted in the pH being thrown off, which led to some sort of lockout. I am flushing with 6.0 pH water. Checked runoff today and pH was 6.0. I side dressed her with more fox farm ocean forest soil last week and she was also getting other nutes so I’m not thinking she’s not getting enough nutes but I could be wrong ofc. Just looking like mag deficiency from lockout to me 🤔
Yeah she has bushed out like crazy. Scared to do any defoliation cause this is literally my first grow and I’m still learning. Don’t wanna shock her this far into flowering. Got kinda ugly cause of a lockout I think. Won’t be using tiger bloom on autos anymore cause it can be too much for them. Switched to calmag and it seems to have slowed the necrosis of the leaves. Been seeing a fungus gnat here and there but keeping under control with diatomaceous earth and letting soil dry more between waterings. Been trying to gauge how much longer she needs, but I really don’t know. 😩Like should I be flushing her?
