Just got my seeds in the mail today! FastBuds packaging always leaves me with a giggle. DVD for this grow is Cruel Intentions 2.
I have 2 coco coir pellets left, so I chose Lemon Pie & Orange Sherbet. Spring vibes! I also promised a friend a seed for her to grow indoors by window light.. so I DIYed some toilet paper roll pots for the germination using old soil.
Tiny experiment to see if this method works too :)
---
12H: 3/4 put out their tap roots already! I left them on a mat in the bathroom near a heater. I think the last one should pop by end of day today hopefully.
Day 3: By the end of the first day they all popped, and now day 3 they have righted themselves with stems coming up and taproots going down. All are still helmet heads, I am finding that while FastBuds pop quicker, they need a tiny bit of a nudge to leave the shell.
Day 5: Transplanted the two Lemon Pies to larger pots. They both have their first set of true leaves. The soil was a mix of coco coir, worm castings, old soil, and some bokashi mix. Added a half teaspoon of guano to each pot, and used old plant roots as soil cover. The two babies are looking a bit wonky.. will see if it gets better in the long run. Removing the helmets too soon may stunt growth.
Day 8: Transplanted Orange Sherbet to their final pots. One of the set of leaves haven't opened yet.. even though the bottom edge is starting to turn green.
Had to do some plant surgery since the undifferentiated head was still fused together..
Day 9: Orange is on her way, yet still needs some time to catch up to Lemon.
Day 20: Had the landlord come by so I kept the girls under less wattage and small so that I could easily hide them. Now putting them under the regular lights. One of the pots seems to have an infestation of gnats already. Killed 3 full grown on my way to check them this morning. The last grow they were kept in check with sand. I suppose I'll put in something for cover, maybe rocks to start with and see if that helps in the next couple of days depending on the situation.
Day 24: The gnats are bearable for now... FIMmed lemon since she was the quickest grow, this will probably even out both girls.
Day 30: Lemon is a tiny bit stunted right at the point she'd start to flower. Both plants I may have over watered, or the soil might be packed in too tightly since the leaves are curling up a bit. Will keep tabs on. The gnats should be done with in another round hopefully.
Day 31: Back on track after FIMming Lemon, her roots are coming out beautifully. Also added two shots from my friend's overcast windowsill, the other two that were planted at the same time, struggling in low light conditions.
Day 35: I'm thinking of doing 20:4 for lights as they near flowering. Lemon smells a little diesel. Both girls are coming out cute and bushy, I'm super stoked about their size! Last run it was brutal to go through the trimming as each bud site matured and I know during the summer I just don't want to pay as close attention.
Day 37: Mixed a spoonful of guano powder in 500mL of water let both girls have a drink. Yesterday I tied down lemon and today she's showing pistols. Her "wingspan" is huge. Not sure whether I'll train her leaves or cut them.. I'll figure this out by tmrw. Can't really count how many heads are going to come up. But happy 420!!!
Day 42: Lemon is flowering and Orange is not yet. I did some LST on lemon as well, so they are both the same height (10cm) but aerial view shows a bushier Lemon. Super curious to see what kind of yield these small girls will give and how FIMming Lemon changes the bud formation.
Day 46: Orange started showing pistils a few days ago. Started adding 5ml/250mL BioBizz Bloom to water the girls. Mostly eyeballing it. The foliage is bushing up like crazy. I almost regret FIMming Lemon in such a small pot, since even with LST there's just so much growth that it's hard for all her leaves to get light. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks. My previous run's stash is finally running low now that I've been gifting stuff left right and centre.
Day 53: I have a feeling that a bigger pot is necessary for FIMmed plants. Defoliated Lemon a little bit (used her leaves for a morning shake 😁). Some of her leaves are turning lime green, not sure what that's about. Overall excited about their day to day growth from now.
Day 55: Followed some advice and tried to add some Cal in the form of chamomile tea. Ended up trimming the already deficient leaves will see what happens later on. Could also be light burn from the plants getting taller. Lemon Pie is showing the purple phenotype which I love!
Day 60: Using LST and FIM Lemon's canopy looks great all the sites exposed to light. Orange is getting taller.. so we'll see how it'll end up. The yellowing leaves might actually be light burn they're pretty close to the light, but the sugar leaves are a bit more protected. I might go back to 20:4 in terms of light schedule or lower the shelf. Smell wise even Lemon's non sugar leaves have a very lovely scent. I'll get back to the scent profile another day.
Day 66: The girls need full watering every 2-3 days, adding a few mL of BioBizz Bloom everytime. I just ended up cutting off the leaves that went yellow and the rest were fine. I think the sugar leaves get a bit of light protection whereas the other ones didn't plus they were blocking the buds at the bottom. So all's good! Next week I'll add some lamps to shine at the bottom foliage of Orange. Wondering when these girls will finish up... I can wait for summer and travel 🙈
Day 70 Lemon's external leaves are starting to get more yellow. I think it's mainly from light burn especially the tips of the sugar leaves too. Some of her pistils are turning brown. I think I'll give her top buds maybe 1.5 more weeks and start to cure them. Mainly because I'm going away for a week in June and I don't want all the trichs to get amber. Doing these baby grows is so much fun
Day 74 Lemon is getting very chunky.. they're needing to be watered a lot more now. Almost every day.
Day 80 - The smell is getting stronger, and the top buds for Lemon are getting all very fat and sugary ☺️. So close to cutting. Orange has a fair bit to go still.. although I'm worried about the week I'll be gone 🙈
Day 87: Cut off two bud sites from Lemon, I'll start putting flower pics in the next post. Still leaving the rest of her to grow and get light. I suspect it'll be a total of 6g dry. Orange is getting denser, definitely going to leave her for a couple of weeks longer. I have a girlfriend coming by to water them when I'm gone. Hopefully every 3 days should be good.
This would be a mellow afternoon or evening bud for me. Really gets me into my body and comfortable. Not a couch lock, but not highly energetic either. Dense buds quick grow, really aesthetic and probably a great seller. When I posted pics everyone was interested, unfortunately I really only grow for personal use 😅
Dried smell isn't as nice as the wet smell. Less citrusy and more diesel like...
Love it, light, fruity, flowy high. It feels like a positive uplifting high that helps you enjoy the moment. It's been taking me forever to finish harvesting though... There's still about 4 budsites left on the plant and I started harvesting at week 12.. it's well July 2 now.. 😅 you do the math. I'm going to guesstimate about 9 g dry. Continual harvesting really lets the buds fatten up but you also get a mix of early / late buds which is interesting. The smell is just fantastic.
Your Lemon looks gorgeous with its purplish colours around her buds. Nice looking. And I love the straight up growth of your Orange. Wish you luck growing
I love the look of your lemon baby, I might get myself one but I'll wait for your comments about smoking. Judging only by the look of it, I say I want it.
@FreshRob, It's exactly why I wanted to grow that one!! She's a beaut. I actually just cut off the top a few days ago. She smells really great. I barely smoke and when I do I like a light energetic high so..
