This is a retroactive grow diary, so will be filling in the weeks and details after the fact. Started the grow from bag seed of Durban Poison. So didn't know what to expect genetically. As you'll see, as the grow progressed different phenotypes expressed themselves, but all in all not too bad for random bag genetics.

Almost ready to plant in soil. Bags are mostly, if not fully, filled out with roots.

Planted out into big holes, filled with decomposed cow manure compost and covered with woodchips. The holes dug really influenced the growth of the plants later on. The bigger the hole the better. Plants are slightly mounded to facilitate drainage, as the rain was really starting to come down. Didn't water at all as the rain just did it all for me. Humidity was also high because of rain.

Hardly had to do anything. Ladies just kept going strong. Had good rainfall so hardly had to water at all. As one can see in the pic, the plants were planted in a garden with many other plant species. I planted some basil and dill nearby as complimentary plantings. The dill just grew lanky and bolted but the basil grew amazingly alongside the cannabis.

Just after summer solstice, so light hours will be declining from here on out. Staked the plants with lengthy bamboo stakes. Still didn't need any water as the rainfall was doing everything for me. A delight to grow in such a suitable climate. Decided not to do any topping or fimming, just wanted to see how the plant naturally took shape. Call me old fashioned, I guess...

First signs of flowering. Started to defoliate a bit and watering a bit more myself. Humidity still quite high in the garden because of all the other plants, but rainfall has decreased.

Humic acid/Kelp meal mix 0.8 mll
Added some humic acid and kelp meal mix to all the plants. 25g pack in about 30L of water, distributed it evenly throughout all the plants(5). Pistils are developing more, but unfortunately didnt take any close ups. 😑 More defoliating on the ones I've shown so far. Not much yet on the ones in the back(somehow the first pics I took of them since grow started.)

Big week, started to strap down the trees. Tied branches to main stem and stakes around the plants so as to open them up a bit and provide support in case of windy conditions. Only staked the pair and not the three in the back yet. This was a bit of a mistake as the big one in the back needed it sooner. Defoliation of note... need to keep defoliating these trees all the time. Pretty relaxing though...

Things are coming along nicely with the pair, have to water more often now though. I just check for soil moisture with the old thumb in the dirt technique and water when I see the leaves look a bit less turgid. The days are sometimes quite hot, going above 30°C. However the plants seem to handle it well. The big one of the back three just keeps on getting bigger, flowering is later than the rest. Interesting to see how all the plants seem to grow differently because of some microclimate differences The smallest tree of the back three gets less light than the rest, started flowering earliest but is taking quite long to frost up with trichomes. The pair is doing the best on average with full sun, whereas the large one in the back is bigger than them all but seems to be delayed af.
