Dos Si Dos Auto - Nice Strain

DonGrowian The ladies have moved into their temporary quarters for the next approx. 3-4 weeks...a 60x60 grow tent. They're getting nice full spectrum from a Mars Hydro TSW2000, dialed down to 150W....for 20 hours a day. Right now, it's 27 degrees in the tent. The humidity is way too low at 37%. I'll need to help out with a humidifier. The 4th lady also saw the light of day yesterday and moved in right away. Let's see how they like the new climatic conditions and the light.

DonGrowian As the weekend approaches, here's another update on the actual grow. The Dos Si Dos Auto. 3 of them are already on day 12 of their short lives. The little latecomer is on day 6. All the plants are developing completely without any issues so far. Today, they all got their new shoes, or rather boots...18L pots. I was really surprised when taking them out of the 1L Airpods to see how many roots they had already formed. The bigger ones were almost reaching the bottom with their roots. So I think it was time for them to get new pots. Otherwise, they are growing well so far. They are still in a 60x60 setup at about 27 degrees and around 50-60% RH now.

DonGrowian Another 7 days have passed and the ladies are growing like crazy. This is nothing compared to my first grow, which I more or less messed up. The first ones have now reached the width of the pot. But obviously, it doesn't go without setbacks. A clip fan has mysteriously come loose and fell on one of the ladies. It looks a bit battered and was unintentionally topped. Let's call it the "HST test". :-) The side branches are now on the rise and I'm curious to see what will come of it. I'm also excited to see how these things will take off when the actual stretching begins at the start of flowering. One of them seems to have suffered a bit more nutrient burn at the bottom. The rest looks healthy, so I don't see any further action needed there. In the meantime, I've repaired my lamp. It was actually the dimmer that was broken. With a bit of soldering knowledge, it was relatively easy to replace. Now the thing is running absolutely smoothly again.

DonGrowian So... before the ladies move into the big tent, the parts for the lamp finally arrive. They're slowly getting too big for the mini-box. By the weekend at the latest, the move is on, because otherwise I think I'll hinder the stretching due to lack of space. I raised the lamp higher today. It wasn't too far from the ladies anymore. To ensure even lighting after the move, I'm still busy building. I think I'll be done by the weekend. Now I just need to do the wiring. It doesn't sound like much, but it's quite a fiddly job if you want to do it right. And then I hope it serves its purpose and I don't have a central lumen spot that decreases towards the edges. Update: Today a little update on day 27. 2 big points that happened today. The ladies have moved into the big tent and the new DIY lamp is finished. The small tent, which was only supposed to be for drying, has now really become too small. The ladies are literally shooting up. So it was time for more space and more light. So far, they've been getting 150W on 60x60. Now there are a total of 360W on 100x100 from Samsung LM301B boards with a few red LEDs added. The biggest reason I chose a DIY solution is... well, actually there are 2 reasons... the price and the custom fit. I tailored the thing exactly to my tent size and now I get a beautifully even lighting. I think the ladies will thank me for it. Here's a little picture from a low angle, so you can see what I mean. I should now have about the same light intensity across the entire area. Let's see how it goes from here and where the temperatures settle. I usually have more trouble with too low temperatures than too high ones. To wrap up, here's a close-up of one of the ladies. I think they look super healthy. DonGrowian Midweek check-in time again. We're on day 31, and the first problems are popping up. Of course, it's error 77 (gardener's stupidity). I always check to see if the soil is still moist enough. However, I must have overlooked that while the front ladies had nicely moist soil, one of the back ones was disproportionately thirstier. Everything looked fine in the evening, but the next morning, she really looked like crap. I thought she wouldn't make it. I then watered all the plants, and she's slowly recovering. But she doesn't look great. Maybe someone has a tip on whether I can do anything else. Overall, though, things are progressing quite positively. All the plants have surpassed 40cm. The tallest one measures about 45cm. The first flower clusters are forming, but I have the feeling that the height and width growth is really slowing down right now. Isn't this supposed to be the phase where the stretch kicks in and the plants should really gain height?

DonGrowian Hey friends of herbal knowledge, another 7 days have passed and it's time for an update on day 38! The growth has slowed down a bit, but it's still going. The smallest one is currently around 50cm tall. The largest measures just under 65cm. Water consumption is very moderate. The pots have become about 1.8kg lighter within 3 days. Ignoring the added plant mass, that's about half a liter per day. By now, there are also real discolorations showing on the leaves. Do we have a deficiency here, so I should slowly start fertilizing? 38 days, almost 30 of which in the pre-fertilized soil. Otherwise, it looks really delicious. The flower clusters are now forming very clearly. The smell is still quite limited. Typical light scent, but nothing really wild. Temperatures are still around 27 degrees with 20 hours of lighting. In the dark phase, it's around 18 degrees.

DonGrowian The little side project has now, as "announced," also started. A bit of planning and price research, and now we're off with the insulated box. The total cost will be around 200€. It's all made from self-built sandwich panels. 30x60mm wooden beams as a frame, glued and screwed onto that is a 3mm MDF board. For the ceiling and floor, I used 12mm MDF from the inside, since it has to hold a bit of weight both at the bottom and at the top. Inside, there are 40mm insulation panels with a thermal conductivity value of 0.32 (the dark ones at the back in the picture). I'll be painting the inside with Alpina white latex paint... I was considering whether to go with regular or latex, but I opted for the latex because it can get relatively humid in there. I really hope I can manage the cool basement climate with this. Here's another picture of the floor and ceiling panel. Underneath is the 3mm MDF and on top is the frame. I've glued it now, and this afternoon it will be screwed together. Then the insulation will go in and the lid will be put on. So much for the side show. But there’s also a main show here. That’s currently happening in the tent right next to the new build. I just tackled the Cal/Mag deficiency. I hope it gets better now. Let's wait and see. I've mostly removed the sick leaves. The buds seem to have grown in the last 10 days when I compare them to the old pictures. Overall, it looks pretty good considering the circumstances.

DonGrowian Today I finally managed to build and even install the door. It already has the first layer of white paint on the inside, and it got a first coat on the outside as well. But the paint is not final yet. You can see that in the pictures...something still needs to happen. Thanks to 5 hinges, the heavy insulated door actually doesn't sag. And that's despite its width. I'm actually surprised... Door seal tape still needs to go in, and then the tech setup will begin. Update: Time for a test run. Most of the tech is in, and I'm curious about what temperatures will be inside. One thing is for sure. It looks sleek and is way more impressive than a plain tent. Update: News from the cabinet! We're on day 53 after germination, and the ladies have settled in well in their new home. The much bigger problem was the massive nutrient deficiency. However, after all the plants received a massive nutrient cocktail of 50ml Hesi bloom fertilizer per 10L and an additional 10ml PK13/14 per 10L, they are visibly doing better. I've mostly removed the dying leaves. Today they got water without nutrients, and I think on Monday/Tuesday they'll get a moderate nutrient mix again. Lastly, I took a few bud shots. They look really tasty now. It's just annoying that they could probably be much bigger if they hadn't had deficiencies for so long.

DonGrowian Tag 57 for the little Dos Si Dos Auto. Slowly but surely, it's becoming autumn in the box! According to schedule (according to the breeder), there are still between 13 and 18 days left. I hope that, on one hand, the mass increases a bit and, above all, the resin production. Because what I've seen so far is more like "meh." The aroma is nice though. There's definitely a hint of mint in there. I'm really into mint. I'm super curious about it. Update: The flowering threads are now almost completely turning brown, and the leaves are getting increasingly yellow. For a week, they've been getting nothing but water and light. The bud looks really nice. I think the color is pretty cool. The aroma is getting stronger now and smells really, really delicious. The resin production seems to be slowly ramping up. It's getting whiter. Now we're 7-12 days before the harvest time according to the breeder. Based on the flowering threads, I would say that fits. But the trichomes tell a different story. Do we have any experienced gardeners here who can estimate how much longer they need?

DonGrowian Sooooo, it's getting closer to the end. I think this is the last update before the harvest report. Next Saturday, I'll probably chop them down. But they're also starting to look really tasty. You can hardly see any changes with the naked eye anymore. So, I assume they've reached their final stage and are just waiting to kick the bucket.

DonGrowian Soooo garden friends... on to the finale. Today was the day, and the 76-day-old Dos Si Dos Auto were chopped down. It actually took me 9 hours today, but it was worth it. Now I’ll let it dry in peace and then see how much it ended up weighing when dry. I definitely got about 1g of nice "scissor hash" for sure! :-) I'm pretty wiped out, so I'm just going to crash on the couch for now! More details to follow... Update: Today I focused on making hash. I had some trim left from the last grow, so I used that right away. Made with the dry ice method and then just shook it up. It was worth it. The Dos Si Dos produced 10.5 grams of delicious-smelling oily hash, and the Strawberry Lemonade from the last grow gave me another 5.2 grams. The test is still pending :-)
