Day 1 - Overnight soaking seeds then direct into media tomorrow.
Day 2 - Seeds haven’t germinated yet, transferred to media in solo cups. I am going to transplant these autos outside... I know it’s not recommended 😅 probably will be fine though.
Day 7 - Still no sign of germination from either of these ladies... getting a bit concerned.
Day 9 - April 3rd - still no sign of germination on either of these. I moved then to a sunny window near a space heater to see if I can encourage them to pop... I think these ladies may be a fail. Will give it a couple more days before I try the other two seeds in the pack.
Day 13/1 These original seeds still have not germinated. I’m making a second attempt now... maybe it’s me not sure. Beginning with a 48hr soak on these next two seeds. Will probably record this as day 1 going forward.. unless the original seeds decide to germinate.
Day 4 - both of the seeds in the second sowing have germinated and are beginning to emerge from media. The first sowing were possibly sewn too deep, kept too wet, or didn’t like my media mix. The initial seeds still haven’t emerged.
Day 5 - despite both of the second sowing cracking, only one actually successfully grew and made leaves.
Day 52 - despite only one of 4 seeds germinating the one that did is doing very well. I have transplanted her 3 times now and finally outside in her raised bed for the summer. The plant has responded really well to transplanting for an auto and is still not showing any signs of flower, which is awesome. Hoping to get another couple weeks of vegetative growth before she decided to focus on buds. First autoflower I’ve ever transplanted outside. Hoping for a nice mid summer harvest here.
Day 88 - June 24th
Clearly not an auto. She’s going to be a tall lady.
Done a fair bit of defoliation and have topped the plant at some of the leaders.
Day 99 - she’s starting to show signs of flower with white pistols forming around the nodes. Keeping here pruned and topping regularly, once she makes the full transition I will be less aggressive with pruning. She’s definitely a tall plant and getting taller.
Day 118 - July 19th - this lady is super tall and getting taller. She has lots of white pistols, but probably at least a week behind my gorilla glue. I think this is probably just first week of flower give or take. This lady could be a slow one to mature, but we’ll see. Looking forward to getting deeper into flower in the coming weeks.
Still side shooting the plant lightly to keep a semi even canopy. Might do this for one more week.
Day 128 - July 28th
This lady has been very slow starting into flower, which is concerning. looking like a long flower cycle ahead. Still just has pistols forming, no real sign of any buds yet. My photo periods are further into flower than this plant is.
Day 159 - August 28th
It’s been a month since my last post on this girl. She’s now probably 11-12 ft tall but has been in transition to flower for a month almost. Dead slow this one. She’s maybe starting to think about forming buds but we’re still looking at at least 9 weeks to get to finished buds I’m guessing. This would put us in the end of October... soo sad to say this girl isn’t going finish in my climate
Still keeping here trimmed every now and then for air flow, she’s only just about to get to the point where I’ll consider not pruning any further. Usually only remove less than 10% of the plant at one time keeping the main tops.
I would assume these genetics are more like a Jack Herer photo fem, which would be great if I lived in California or Mexico lol.
Day 192 - Sept 28th
Week 11 of flower or something like that. It’s cold at night right now <10 with frost coming in a number of days.
She’s probably got 3 weeks to finish flower... pending a miracle. Smells amazing — fruity citrus smell.
Day 202 - We’re more than a week past the typical first frost date and amazingly after going down to 2C at night has warmed up unseasonably the last week or so. This girl needs maybe 2-3 weeks to fully finish flowering, but if I can get 1.5 or 2 that might just do.
The temperatures have been cold at night <10 still. Lots of rain and fog, so I have been shaking the buds regularly to get as much water off of them as possible. The last couple weeks I’ve started having issues with powdery mildew developing — not surprising with the cold wet weather. I’ll try to trim as much off as possible to compost.
The trichomes are still milky white and maybe 70% of the pistols are as well. The buds smell strongly of citrus 🍊
Smell extremely nice.
The yield is looking to be less than some plants I’ve grown this size, ‘moderate’ I’d say. I definitely wouldn’t say low, but could be stronger. Love the bud structure on this strain, very uniform size along the colas and not many small buds.
Weather is looking to stay warm another 4-5 days at least. This truly could be a miracle, fingers crossed 🤞🏼
This was a photoperiod for me. Epic buds though, biggest buds I grew this year. Got extremely lucky with really warm weather this fall, would not grow this outdoor again knowing it is a photoperiod and slow to flower (Mid October). I would love to see a proper auto version of this plant.
I did get bud rot on a couple of then biggest buds, but it was not extensive. Some powdery mildew.
The plant grew somewhere in the range of 12-14 feet tall, 4-5 feet across. Massive buds and good yields (will update weights after drying)
Beautiful smell to these buds. Like a lemon wedding cake, these are the most fragrant buds I’ve ever grown.
Getting close to cured now ~67% humidity. I’m curing the buds in ziplock bags that I keep open inside a plastic tote with the lid on and air the buds out daily. Just running a filter in the room to keep the odour down in the house.
Total harvest weight is ~19 ounces not including any of the trim. This will go down slightly with the rest of the cure process. I’ll lose less than an Oz over the rest of the cure.
The high from this strain is energetic, uplifting, relaxing, euphoric. Definitely no couch lock here. Great daytime bud.
Thanks for posting this. I have 8 beans of Emperor J, and based on this, I will not grow her expecting an autoflower!
Will be very interested to see your harvest and a smoke report if you please!
Oh the view from that window, “woke up this morning with buds growing in my widow! Sickness good job, you showed that girl who’s boss! Love that pic made me smile! Great work...
Hey dudes and dudets! Thanks for your comments and following my grow. Please don’t forget to like and follow! Smoke review coming in a few weeks for this lady.
