Ok folks, this one is gonna be a doozy. We’re growin KTF Orange for the Ozarks Caregiver Grow-Off contest, 6 month grow timeframe, 6 reg seeds to start with. Only 5 out of the 6 seeds are viable so the 6th cup contains a Green Crack fem that’s gonna get documented separately.
4 out of 5 seeds popped so I’m gonna reuse that other cup for a Blue Dream that’s gonna go on a 6 month grow cycle as well.
Day 1- We’re kickin this off with today as day 1 and we’re goin for 6 months. I think I’m gonna try the 36 hour dark period prior to flipping the light schedule to 12-12 to see if that actually induces flowering faster. We still have about 4 months until that point though. What’s up from SEMO to any fellow Missourians reading this and good luck to my competition!
Day 4- Two of these seedlings are fucked up but we’ll see what happens with them in a couple weeks. Idk about the other two, I feel like I’m gonna have to scrap at least 3 of these. I don’t wanna grow those fucked up seeds and I’ll probably only get 1 female if any out of the two that look good. If that’s the case then I’ll stick it out but I’m scrapping the fucked up 2 for sure and if both of the others are males then I’m out.
Day 8- I got rid of the 2 that were fucked up, now I’ve got 2 left. Hopefully they’re both female but we’ll find out soon enough. Transplanted early because a dumb mishap. Next week they’ll get the nutrient regimen started also.
Day 15- I decided I’m only keeping one of these because my Blue Dream 6 month grow needed one of the pots so I pulled the bigger one because I think that one would be a male anyway. Now I’ve got one left and that’s what I’m gonna submit as my entry. Fed her with about .5L of nutrient solution at 25% strength. I’m not gonna toss the other plant just yet, if it survives the transplant I’m gonna finish it in a solo cup.
Day 23- Almost forgot to add a new week lol As I expected the bigger plant was a male so I tossed it out. The remaining plant is a dwarf so I’m betting it is a female. It’s gotten a little bigger but it’s not doing much stretching and the node spacing is pretty tight. I’m just gonna keep it goin and see what happens.
Day 26- Topped the two outer branches to make the inner ones grow more. This thing is growin like a snail, the bud better be dank otherwise I’ll never grow anything from this group again.
Day 29- Gave this plant about .5L of nutrient solution at 100%. It’s still growing slow af so I topped the other 2 outer branches to see if that will spark some growth on the two center branches. If not then oh well, I’ll just keep growing this thing until it shows me its sex. If it’s a male then obviously it’s gettin chopped but I think this one will be a female.
Day 43- This thing is growin a little bit faster now but not much. It’s at 8 inches now, I don’t expect it to stretch too much once flowering begins but we’ll see.
Day 50- Flowering day 2- Started the day off with about 1L of nutrient solution. This girl is growing a bit but she’s still a dwarf compared to all the other plants in the tent. Hopefully I get some good bud out of her but I think I’m gonna switch spots with the green crack in the near future. This girl is short enough to catch the reflections of light sitting in the corner of the tent unlike my green crack.
Is this some kind of deficiency? There is discoloration around the edges of a lot of leaves on this KTF Orange, I’m not sure what it is from but the plant hasn’t seemed stressed at all.
Hi mate, I think thats the start of light burn. The edges are the only parts affected. You can see they are nearly curling up. I would lower the intensity or raise your light a few inches and see how she responds. Good luck and happy growing
Day 57- Flowering day 9- Fed this girl with about 1L of nutrient solution today. She’s definitely stretching out but I’m sure that’ll come to a halt after another week or so. I don’t really like the way this plant smells but I’m sure it’ll change as it matures.
Day 61- Flowering day 13- Ok so now I’m starting to get slightly impressed with the way the buds are growing. I think she may produce some pretty fat buds but the smell is still very weak and leaves much to be desired. I’m glad I decided not grow this girl out for 6 months though because I really don’t think it would’ve made that much of a difference.
Day 64- Flowering day 16- Started the day with about 1L of nutrient solution. This girl is very low maintenance compared to the other plants in the tent but that’s because it’s not even half the size of the other plants in the tent lol Gonna keep letting her do her thing and see what happens.
Day 68- Flowering day 20- These buds are lookin like they’re gonna turn out to be fire. I think the size of the plant helps it develop trichomes a little better because it’s not too close to the light so it’s not really getting stressed out from intense light like the OG 2 in the tent. Regardless of what is making this girl develop trichomes faster than the other girls I’m actually getting fairly excited to try this stuff out.
Day 71-Flowering day 23- These buds just keep getting prettier and prettier, it's hard to believe that it's not even halfway through flower yet. I'm looking forward to seeing how big these buds get, hopefully they become monstrous compared to size of the is plant lol. I fed this girl with about 1.5L of nutrient solution this morning, I'm gonna keep an eye on her and see if she's drinking faster so I can figure out about when it'll be ok to up the amount of solution I'm using per week. I think I'll feed again about day 74-75 and depending on how dry the soil is will help me determine whether or not I should increase feeding schedule.
Day 74- Flowering day 26- I just gave her straight up molasses water today because her leaves have turned pretty dark green and I think she’s close to a nitrogen toxicity as well. I can report that her smelliness has skyrocketed this week. I was leaning over her and this super dank smell hit me in the face and I was like whoa🤤 lol
Day 78- Flowering day 30- She’s coming along nicely, definitely smells just like oranges 🤤 Increased the amount of PK in the nutrient solution and decreased the N by removing cal/mag for this week. Still got a few weeks to go until this one is gonna be ready to chop.
Day 85- Flowering day 37- This girl smells just like the GG#4 from msnl; I took an early sample and it tastes just like it too. It’ll get ya stoned though but it’s not ready yet. Hopefully the buds start swelling up a little more before harvest because I switched to overdrive from flower fuel. I think I’m gonna get some big bud and see if that works better than the flower fuel does.
Day 92- Flowering day 44- This girl handled the move well but her branches are having trouble supporting the top buds. She’s close to harvest though so I’m not too worried about it. After this week I’ll just give her water only until I chop her down.
Day 99- Flowering day 51- This girl has 4 days to go before I give her the chop. I doubt I’ll get much more than an ounce but maybe those buds will be dense as fuck. They definitely look like they’re gonna be fire. Giving this nothing but water til the chop.
Day 103- flowering day 55- I gave her the chop first thing this morning and hung her up to dry. These buds seem to be pretty dense and they smell just like oranges. Very interested in seeing how much it weighs in the end.
This was a slow growing dwarf plant from the start. The genetics were very unstable but I got 1 female that was worth keeping. The parents of this strain were Kimbo Kush as the mother plant and a father plant they called Daddy’s Orange. This plant was fairly easy to grow and got pretty frosty before giving me some rock solid buds. I’m hoping a good cure cuts down on that overwhelming orange flavor because it’s a little too much.
