As a new grower I was really unsure when to put them outside after they showed through the soil. I searched and searched and read conflicting advice, thanks to this website I think I have saved myself from ruining them completely by being able to ask questions to experienced growers :) Realised i should not have used the plastic cups as the roots need to be always in the dark, but as only been 3 days they should be fine now that i have transferred them...we will see! Out of the 5 germinated seeds, 3 were potted on the 28th and popped through soil on the 29th, 1 was potted on the 29th and popped through on the 30th, and one still hasn't popped through the soil and so it is still indoors in the dark. For the first 2 days that i could put them in the sun, I had read that they should be gradually exposed to the sun, for example 3 hours the first day, then adding an hour each day until after a week they can stay all day in the sun. Then i checked this info by asking questions on here as i really did not want to ruin them, and i am taking the advice of a grower with 35+ experience, which is that as soon as they show through the soil, they can go outside. So now (from day 3) from 9am-5pm they have the sun :) I am going to bring them all indoors tonight, last night was only about 15ºC and really quite windy. I have also asked for advice about this so see if anyone has had this experience that can hep me :)

Grow Questions

Am I right to understand that i do not need to put any nutrients in the water until my plants are about 3 weeks old? I have BioBizz on standby for when the time is right (BioGrow, BioBloom, and TopMax). Any advice from growers that are familiar with these products? Thanks x

I think it would depend on your soil. If it has it then you would wait. I use fox farm happy frog and I usually don't add any nutes until the end of veg if I veg 2+ months. And autos are usually sensitive to them so go light.

With Autoflowers that is about correct but it depends on what substrate you use to grow them. When growing in soil, you should be fine without nutrients until flower. That is unless the plant starts to tell you otherwise, eg. Lower leaves start to yellow, deficiencies appear, etc. When growing in soiless mediums like coco coir you will need to feed from the get go, lightly but much more frequently. Autoflowers in general don’t like nutrients as much compared to photo period strains. Of course that varies from genetic to genetic but is a common trend among autos.

@KeepinItReal, there are so many different things people like or do,,it can be a personal thing,,I personally do not buy special ferts etc ,,I mix molasses, peroxide and ferts in a bottle and use some of it every 2-4 waterings a cap full with the water that day,,only once i scrape a small amount of ASA(aspirin) and scrape a small amount of calcium off a calcium table and desolve that in the bottle after shes a few weeks old..but thats just me..I show it and a bottle of it in my diary..

@Sweet_Seeds, thanks a lot! I am a total newbie so any tips or advice very much welcome! I am just about to put some new photos on my diary, i had some white leaf tips on one of them, and another started going paler green, checked again the ph and realised i needed to lower it as the water was about 6.5 - 7...😢 checked the run off and it was the same so i added a bit of white vinegar to the water, until ph reading 5.5 - 6.....the plants look like they appreciate it, they look stronger than the other day si i am hoping the colour improves too and they get better!

@CheckThoseTrichs, do you think they will be ok now that i think i have sorted the ph? Worried that i have damaged them too early and they might not recover? Thanks x
