I started with 3 seeds of the purple skunk auto xxl and of the 3 I had 2 successful germinations using a glass of water in dark cupboard. I first tried damp cotton wool to germinate with no luck. My third seed came from a bag of unknown strain (I was told it was stardawg but have no way of confirming this!), I'm assuming it's a photo plant so planted them all at the same time with the intention of trying a super long veg on the photo while the autos run their course. I'll be using the general hydroponics range nutrients (micro/grow/bloom/calmag) for all plants, and I'll be using 18/6 light cycle.
They're starting to come along nicely, transplanted them in to larger pots. I've put purple in to it's finishing pot (3 gal) but I'm going to pot up my other auto Skunkie in a couple weeks just to see for myself how it goes/what difference it makes because there is alot of divided opinions online on wether or not this should be done as it can stress autos so thought feck it I'll find out for myself 😂 My photo plant will get potted up as we go too and they'll all finish in 3 gal pots due to space limitations
My photo finally seems to be picking up, happy with the progress in the autos too. Skunkie seems to be growing better in the smaller pot than Purple. I've attached the nutrient charts I'm using as they've started getting fed nutrients
Purples leaves got a bit crisp and I may have had the light too close so think it's due to this rather than nutrient burn or deficiency as my ph is fine
Have done some mild LST as is first grow and still new to this, in hindsight I probably should have started much sooner and done this heavier throughout the grow 😅 but I definitely intend to do this much heavier in future grows. Purple seems to have recovered well from its suspected light damage and skunkie is definitely thriving from potting up! I'm going to stop including photos of the 'photo' plant and start a seperate diary for it as I plan on keeping it in veg for the entire lifespan of the autos
I introduced a net for support as they're transitioning in to flowering nicely, so I'll likely not be taking them out for individual shots as they bloom cause they're just too heavy now! Skunkie is at the front of tent and Purple at the back, you can see how my photo plant on the right is thriving after a good FIM
Looking good this week! Plants seem happy and healthy and drinking about 2lt of water a day on average giving plenty of run off. You can see my photo on the right is trying to take over the tent so hopefully we can keep her at bay until it's harvest time for the autos!
On reflection I definitely could have used LST on the autos alot more than what I did, next grow I need to not stress so much about stressing the plants out as they're hardier than I first imagined! They're both downing feed now and everything still seems to be doing good. I've had a little brown spotting on some fan leaves of the autos but I think this is due to too much nutes! Giving a plain water feed roughly once a week now to see if this improves things
Starting to look frosty! I reckon I stunted them a week or 2 early on when I tried to put both the veg and bloom lights on my LED for a day and they got real sad looking, so switched it off til they were about 5 weeks ish. I'm guessing harvest date will be another month away. I've added a pic of the roots on both my autos- they're creeping out of the bottom of the pots, don't know if this is good or bad but they seem to be doing good so far.
Some yellowing this week but think that's cause they're coming to the end of their cycle soon! I reckon another 2 weeks tops until harvest, can see loads of trichomes but don't look to me like they're milky yet. Any tips on the run up to the end are welcome, plant to start flushing in about another week!
Skunkie got harvested today! Hard to capture in picture cause my camera isn't the best but trichomes were mostly nice and milky at the start of the week and she'd stopped developing new ones for a while now, on harvest today plenty of amber ones so was eager to get her down. Think I'm going to give the other auto another week and see how she goes day by day because she doesn't look quite there yet! Updates on her to follow during the week. All in all I'm happy with how my first grow has turned out so far and i'm keen to get them both down because I need to get the monster photo plant in bloom that been vegging 15 or so weeks- don't know how that's gonna go down 😬
Roughly 44g dry weight of buds for skunkie which I'm really pleased with for my first grow! I took off approx.(I have digital kitchen scales) 14g of trim after the initial dry which I'll be either making hash or edibles with, haven't done either before so I still haven't made my mind up which to do. Harvested Purple too during the week and I have her hanging up to dry. Took the trim off her when wet as it's super humid muggy weather outside where I am (I'll update weight of trim when dry), and her buds are nice and fat so I don't want any chance of them going moldy 😅 Will do one more update of the diary when Purple has dried so I can update the total yield! Thank you for the lovely comments and likes so far I wouldn't have kept up with the diary if it wasn't for them 😂
