Psilocybe c. McKenaii Supa Gro

Bluemels For my second grow attempt of Psilocybin cubensis, I chose McKenaii from the manufacturer Sup Gro. This time, the bag is upright from the start and is sprayed daily on the inside with fresh water.

Bluemels No mushrooms visible yet. I've increased the temperature to 24°C.

Bluemels On day 14, the first mushroom is finally visible. It's progressing very slowly. I have a suspicion that too much air is getting into the grow set. On day 20, I turn off the fan.

Bluemels On day 22, I harvested the first mushroom. I noticed that the mushroom already had cracks on the cap and a bluish edge on the cap. My research has shown that it is likely a breakdown product of existing psilocybin. The mushroom looks more like a truffle, was very firm, and weighed 22g. The second mushroom was also very firm, which is why the membrane under the mushroom is still quite firm. 26g wet. Did I harvest too early? I based it on the blue coloring. After 24 hours in the dehydrator at 35°C, the two mushrooms dried to 5g. On day 25, the remaining mushrooms were also ready for harvest, weighing 139g wet on the scale. It was quite a fiddly job to remove the mushrooms from the edges. While the harvest dries, I'm preparing the mushroom cake in a water bath for the next batch. On day 26, I start with the second batch. The harvest from the first batch is completely dry after about 24 hours at 35°C in the dehydrator :D. It turned out to be 14g, together with the 5g, a total of 19g, I'm quite satisfied.

Bluemels And then on day 36, a weird flat side fungus suddenly appeared, I circled it 😳 It looks funny 😜 but what I'm really wondering is how this fungus could grow so big from one day to the next 😃 Well, I'll keep an eye on it and might harvest it earlier if necessary, the only annoying thing is that it’s growing right out of the side split of the substrate cake 😱 It's hard to get it out without taking the cake with it, that's already giving me a headache 😨 And the next day I had to harvest already!!! 😱 Basically, only mushrooms grew on the edge, 83g wet. And only 6g dry 😳 For the next batch, I'll try placing the cake on its side... After soaking, the mushroom cake was very heavily saturated this time, there were also a few small slimy spots on the cake. On day 2, a lot of mycelium grew, but is it the right kind? 😳 At least the cake doesn't smell. I hope it's not mold 😬

Bluemels On day 45, several mushrooms are visible again 😍 Maybe I can harvest tomorrow 😇 On day 46, I was able to harvest the 3rd batch. 79g wet are now drying in the dehydrator at 35°C for at least 24 hours. The mushroom cake has been soaked again for 12 hours. 😁 I ended up with 6g dry.

Bluemels Already after 1 day, the first mushroom was visible (4th flush) on day 49 overall. On the 2nd day, more little mushrooms appeared 😍 Crazy how fast they're growing now 😳 After 7 days, the 4th flush was finished. But one mushroom has torn quite a bit on the cap 😱 I'm going to try one last 5th flush, the mushroom cake is already quite soft and crumbly 😜 This time it was only 45g wet. Day 55: the mushroom cake doesn't smell as fresh as usual anymore. I'm still going to leave it for now 😶 Day 56: the mushroom cake doesn't smell any better today 😤, and then it went straight into the compost bin 😉

Bluemels What an exciting grow! It was my 2nd mushroom cultivation kit. And it took 55 days. I expected more mushrooms, but the effect is nothing short of amazing! I'm thrilled with my little mushroom stash😍
