Ok so I probably should just start a new journal but this is low effort so low effort all around lol.
First: After a bunch of younglings were cut down, I sprouted 7 more and kept them in the tent longer. This week, I went to the garden and chose 2 plants to be moved out for healthier looking ones from the tent. This wasn't hard, as I could easily see which 2 were the weakest. Want to know WHY they were so small? Well, I was an idiot and didn't remove them from the cow pots entirely. "It will just turn into manure if I plant it in the dirt. I'll tear off a couple sides and tear some holes and it'll be fine." Absolutely not. I removed the 2 and could see the cow pots totally fine and all together despite being in the ground in weather for like 2-3 weeks lmao. The plants didn't go to waste though. Since they were basically the same size and the root ball was just jammed up, I took em out and moved them into the nearby woods. I put them in some weird spots so I'm very curious to see how they'll grow. I'll check them out in a couple weeks and make sure they're not males because I don't want to pollinate my ladies or anyone else's.
Next: I replaced one of the two with a Northern Lights I had going in my tent. I wanted to push this one to its limits, so I topped it early on and you can see what she's growing now. I'm not kidding when I say the 2 tops popped up within 2-3 days and were a couple inches high in a week. This girl did not miss a single beat. I also started her in a mesh bag, moved her to a 1gal fabric pot and then to the garden. I'm no professional by any means, but I am really questioning the advice every budding MJ grower youtube channel says about autos. All you hear is "Don't do topping. Don't transfer pots. Don't defoliate. They can't handle anything. Don't give nutes. Don't be mean" etc. This might just be a strong pheno or a lucky seed, but I am telling you she grew faster than the 3 in the tent. My guess is these YouTubers are well meaning, but have not actually tried the things they are saying not to do with such certainty....like what everyone does online lol. We'll see though. Maybe this one will just die now :')
Finally: I purchased some sex tests from a 4/20 sale and am waiting to hear back from the labeled ones. I had 5 tests and used all 5, all in the row. I picked them because they're the strongest looking right now and I don't want to waste the space. I tried looking for early signs of sex but really am terrible at telling. I'm planning for the day I get the results to sex them on my own and compare to the tests and see how wrong/right I was. IF there are 2+ males, I have one reg Black Banana Punch waiting to replace it AND I have a Twenty20 Feminized Snowcaine in the tent getting bigger by the day.
Thanks for stopping in! Since these should be ready to take off, I'll be using my 2 Plant Trainers soon and will start topping, bending etc. as they get healthier.
Weird question but do males smell differently than females (at least maybe when they're young?) It could've been something else, but I picked up one of these and did the ol' scratch and sniff on the leaf and it just smelled weird lol
nope they smell the same lol I only know this cause there is a hemp field near my property and A whole field of male hemp plants when they a re releasing pollen they can smell a bit veggy but thats all ive noticed lol
