Both plants are looking strong. #2 had an issue getting some embryonic skin off one of it's cotyledons and left a scar (see pic). Other than that the plants are moving right along.
The water seems to be stable around 6.1-6.4. With new clay balls, I was having to adjust the ph daily from 6.8s. As of this post I added 5 tsps each of florabloom micro and gro to each pot.
General plant updates: Both plants are showing their characters. Stretchy has roots to match, long and stringy. Fatty's roots like to creep and wrap around the pot.
Feeding: I haven't added any nutrients this time around, only topped off the water. The true leaves are starting to peak out, though the plants are still heavily relying on their first leaves.
Lighting: I took away the small red/blue light that I was skeptical if they had ir/uv, a few days later the leaves showed some white veins so I put the light back. I'll update next week if it has actually helped or not.
Had to pluck the baby leaves as they were dying off (see first pic). Looks like they are officially in veg now and starting to really grow. I added more hydroton to the pots to minimize light leaks into the water. Other than that, it's steady as she goes.
Current: chlorophyll smell is starting to permeate, but not very noticeable. I should probably get a filter soon. I had some light spots on one leaf on the stretchy plant that was most likely associated with ph fluctuations. No problems came of it and the spots filled back in. Otherwise, they look healthy with a deep green and roots are growing like crazy.
Future: I plan to top when the next nodes come through. Maybe introduce lst, that is a plan further out though
Round one of topping, the plants bearly seemed to notice at all. There was some slight yellow spotting on stretchy that cleared up in 24hrs.
I started laying out my plans for lst. I'll make more permanent wires throughout the week.
Other than that, it's steady as she goes.
What a rough week for the girls.
We've been having a heat wave and the grow room has been maintaining in the low-mid 80s.
I finally got a TDS meter and found the ppms were on the high end at 950-1100. So I changed the water out and lowered the nutes bringing the ppms to 850.
They weren't too happy the past few days but I'm hoping all the adjustments will bring them back, now if mother nature can calm down a little bit..
Well this has been a trial and error week.
I noticed a calcium deficiency so I added 5tsp/gal to each of my pots raising ppm to 1400. Stretch showed some burn after 2 days so I emptied her bucket out and did 1tsp putting her at 1100 ppm, we'll see how that goes. Thickness hasn't shown any negative effects to 1400 yet but I'll keep an eye out.
Other than that, I added 5tsp fish meal and 1tsp magnesium to both. Still looking great, looking forward to flowering.
Did HEAVY defoliation and topping the day after last post, so this pics are 6 days after. Stretch is slow to catch up but thickness almost looks like nothing ever happened. I'll give them a few more days to settle in then switching to flower.
What a shit show for thickness, had the main stem split while I was trying to do who knows what. Threw a couple zip ties on and she didn't miss a beat, even showed her sex. What a champ. Stretch is still on the thin side but no complaints for real. Here's to next week
Well both plants are now officially showing pistols. Stretch held out for a while then pistols everywhere. Thickness had one pistol for about a week then it too sprouted pistols all over.
PH is being a pain in the ass and has to be adjusted daily. I'm unsure of the cause, maybe bad ph meter, maybe just growing pains. Hopefully by next week I'll have it sorted
Pretty easy week. Upgraded lighting so now the lower buds are getting more exposure. Put the buckets on the floor so I can get the proper light distance at 24".
The plants have called down on their ph jumping a lot, instead of going up 0.5-1.0 points overnight to maybe 0.2 top. Easy going, hopefully it stays that way.
Humidity control is the name of the game this week. With on and off storms and temps going from 90s to 70s, it's hard to stabilize. Going to pickup a tent and move them inside the house before next post.
Last defoliation making the girls look thin. At the time of writing this, thus is 4 or 5 days later from when I took the pics. Both girls have bulked up significantly and slowed down on stretching.
Stretch is starting to settle in and packing on the trichomes catching up with shorty. Ppms are still trying to climb while ph is starting to stabilize but still dropping. I'm topping off the reservoirs with ph'd water at this point, adding in just calmag. I'll be flushing the buckets put and adding fresh nutrients before next post.
