Hello!
For this run, i decided to try growing 100% organic in a homemade living soil mix.
Soil consists of Biobizz Lightmix, worm humus, some compost, perlite/vermiculite, neem seed powder, dolomite lime, oyster shell, seaweed powder by guanokalong, high P bat guano from guanokalong, blood meal, bone meal, alfalfa meal, malted barley, lava rocks and whatever else i'm not remembering. Mixed and left to compost in the sun for a few weeks and moistened with a compost tea to inoculate.
The pots consist of about 60% of this super soil and the rest is plain lightmix with some worm castings. I dig a big hole for planting and fill that with lightmix so i don't burn the seedlings in the hot soil at first.
Auto Purple Diesel and Northern light are in 5 gallon pots. Green gelato and Do-si-dos are in 7 gallons. All of them were planted in root cubes and transfered directly to the final pots. Upon planting i used Funky Fungi Myco by BAC directly on the roots and cover crops planted (alfalfa, clovers, mayweed, etc) and mulched with straw.
First seed in was the auto purple about a month ago and just started showing her first pistils after about 30 days. Very weird genetics, plant grows well with no problems or deficiencies but she's extremely short and packed, there's barely any space between nodes.
Hoping she'll start stretching more now and after a light LST.
The plan is to not use nutes or bottles whatsoever and keep it completely natural with only homemade inputs and turn the soil into a no-till for reusing over and over again.
They were all watered with tap dechlorinated water and/or rain water with a little blended aloe vera for the first few waterings and some kelp in the water randomly.
Today i made a batch of compost tea that consisted of:
6 gallons dechlorinated water
3 cups worm castings
1 cup alfalfa meal
5 teaspoons of blackstrap molasses
1 teaspoon of malted barley extract
1 tablespoon of kelp powder
Also thrown in some fresh washed seaweed and bits of aloe vera leaves
Let it brew for 24-36 hours
Deep watered the Auto purple diesel without run-off and lightly watered the other 3 seedlings with a diluted version of the compost tea. Pretty hard not to overwater seedlings in such big pots but trying my best, watering only around the plant itself and going a little wider every water.
The other 3 are barely a week old, will update on those later.
Now comes the hard part.. i still research and read everyday trying to learn more and what to do next.
I have free access to fish scraps and anything ocean-related.
I wanna get into seed sprout teas and fermented plant/fruit juices next.
Also have a pile of fish scraps to make fish emulsion/hydrolisate but still reading up on that.
I've got a couple of auto flowers going in living soil now both are a first time grow but my experience is been tracked pretty closely in my diaries I'm about 4 weeks in now
