Your plant will be just fine with the damaged leaf left on it, just remove it when it goes yellow. At this stage it is still producing some energy for the plant to be able to grow, and while this may seem a tiny amount, it is a whole lot more than if the leaf were cut off!
Your plant will also "re-deploy" most of the elements, like sugars, carbs, amino acids etc from the damaged leaf to be used elsewhere in the plant, so removing the leaf before it goes yellow means your plant will miss out on the chance to recycle those elements contained in the damaged leaf.
Leaving the damaged leaf on the plant will not stress your plant or cause any sort of undesirable effects.
