These babies have been at the receiving end of my tough love and I have decided to ease back for fear of losing more limbs. While I'm learning that my character of tough love is not limited to humans, I am glad these babies wont run away like my women... Sun 13/06 LH #1, #2 and #3 were filling out well post topping and not yet looking thirsty so not much work apart form neatening the soil LHB2#1 She is in the smallest pot and the slowest grower from them all LHB2#2 It could be that her growth is stunted or I am extremely impatient with this grow LHB2#3 She showed signs of bruising on one of the leaves in the lower nodes but looked healthy overall LHB2#4 She got a new set of nodes and she is getting nearer to topping LHB2#5 Looking great and also nearing topping None of the LHB2 needed watering yet Mon 14/06 Autopilot mode and they were all just swinging in the breeze Tue 15/06 LH #1 I gave her a little more training as i want the stems to reach the rim before her second topping LH#2 Ditto LH#3 Ditto LHB2#1 I want to get ready to train her and in hindsight feeling i should have planted her higher up in the pot with maybe 10% more soil LHB2#2 I topped her and defoliated the growth below the 3rd node LHB2#3 Ditto LHB2#4 She didn't look ready for a topping yet LHB2#5 I topped her and defoliated the growth below the 3rd node Wed 16/06 I just let them all be and recover from the previous days ministrations Thur 17/06 LH #1 and #2 were cruising freely in veg mode. LH#3 I lost another limb from trying to train her a little too hard and I opted to let her focus her energy on the good limb by chopping off the injured limb LHB2#1 She got a drink of plain water PH of 6.5 and I began training her with the intention of increasing the tension over the coming days LHB2#2 The top soil was dry but the pot still felt heavy so I skipped the watering and just let her be LHB2#3 Ditto LHB2#4 I was eying her for topping and since she was looking great (despite growing slowly still) I went ahead and topped her LHB2#5 The top soil was dry but the pot still felt heavy so I skipped the watering and just let her be Fri 18/06 LH #1 She has the widest canopy of them all. i pinned the new growth down and tucked some of the bigger leaves away LH#2 Apart for pinning the new growth down, she didn't need much attention LH#3 She was recovering well from all the havoc i had wreaked on her. I added a stake and secured her to it LHB2#1 I increased the tension on the plant ties to lower her canopy a little LHB2#2 She still didn't look thirsty and the soil hadn't dried up much so i left her chilling and recovering from her topping LHB2#3 I didn't stress her any further and just let her be LHB2#4 I pinned her to a stake in the hope of reducing the damage when I train her LHB2#5 She still didn't look thirsty and the soil hadn't dried up much so I left her chilling and recovering from her topping Sat 19/06 I got drunk and lost my phone on Friday night, so I didn't get any photos on Saturday but neither did I give these babies any attention as I was too busy trying to get reunited with my phone (which I did eventually). Sun 20/06 LH #1 She got a little more tucking and pinning as well as 1ltr from a solution of 10ml seaweed extract in 5ltrs of water PH coming to 6.5 LH#2 Apart for a 1ltr drink of water from a solution of 10ml seaweed extract in 5ltrs of water PH coming to 6.5, she got some light pinning LH#3 I fed her 1ltr from a solution of 10ml seaweed extract in 5ltrs of water PH coming to 6.5 and pinned the new growth down a little being careful not to split her at the node/stem joint LHB2#1 Apart for a little drink of water/seaweed solution (200ml), the only work was increasing the tension to bend her more. LHB2#2 I fed her 1ltr from a solution of 10ml seaweed extract in 5ltrs of water PH coming to 6.5 LHB2#3 Ditto LHB2#4 Ditto LHB2#5 Ditto These was somewhat an easy week despite all the trouble I caused her and my camel was back to guard duty. I don't foresee being able to switch these to flower in the next week but will aim for that in 15-18 days.

Am I the only one who sits inside their tent to get away from everyone at home with a drink and a smoke for a few moments each day?

I would do to get away from the wife and kids, there is only enough room for my plants let alone me fitting in there. Top hiding place.

Is there a way to remedy this without flushing my pots (i dont have the space or privacy)? What would the best way forward be considering I am entering week 2 of flower today? Keen to remain 100% organic but happy to break that rule to save these plants from going under.

You have a potassium deficiency. Your plant is going into flowering good and really hungry for more potassium and phosphorus to make your buds. Would increase potassium levels. Good luck

I lost my previous seeds and ended up growing a clone from a friend. I never got around to documenting it and it took a beating but produced a decent harvest. It showed 2-3 male pollen sacs (hermied) a few weeks into flowering which I yanked off. I did notice a couple more nanners very close to harvest. There were not many seeds that came out of the plant and I sprouted some of the few that came out. I have a long wait time on good genetic seeds from Dutch Passion on their way and figured I could practice my growing skills till they arrive. I tent and grow light arrive soon.

Your grow looks fantastic my friend. The girls are really starting to branch out. Always go with your gut and research, but looks like classic Ca def to me bro. I think you are on the right track with considering a root level issue, but also consider that slow transpiration can inhibit the uptake of Ca. Overly acidic soil can slow uptake as well. Given the girls are so young and still in veg I doubt it’s related to P, but when you’re into flower those two like to cause trouble sometimes. I’m no expert, but I have gone down the rabbit hole trying to uptake as much info as I can over the years…this community has helped a ton. You probably already knew all this, but I wanted to pay it forward anyways. Good luck bro!

Man. did i go down that Mulders chart wormhole or what! @Fordsie Your advise is greatly appreciated and as I ready to flip to 12:12 i will heed it. Thank you tons for your time and effort brotherman!
Fordsie
Fordsiecommented3 years ago
Watch your N, too much can potentially lock out Ca which likes to coalesce in roots, and again go with your research here, but Ca is a slow mover, right, it’s an immobile macro nute…got to watch that pH…pH is everything!! It’s a critical nute, and a sensitive one at that. If I had a buck for every time something I looked into brought me back to pH in some way…well, my beer budget would be endless! It’s a crazy circle, if you are a glutton look up Mulders chart, good reference for seeing how nutes impact each other, fair warning this rabbit hole can get deep. Look up lock out flow charts too, always good to know that a deficiency doesn’t always mean you don’t have enough of something, it’s just as likely you have too much of something else that’s preventing the uptake of what comes across at deficient…🤯

Hey bud @Fordsie Thank you, this is invaluable advice and I am grateful you took the time to point me in the right direction. The brown spots have appeared today on a few more of the girls and I am now confident it is an issue at root level. I pressed half a piece of blackboard chalk into the soil last night of all the pots - for calcium. I will have to look for dolomite lime this week as I want to flip to flower next week. Anything else I ought to look out for?

Looking good so far, and I wouldn’t sweat any mistakes along the way, call it par for the course or nature of the beast, but it’s all part of the learning curve. I sure made my fare share of fuck ups. Chances are you won’t make them again as experience is the greatest of teachers. I wish you the best, I’ll follow along to see how you make out. P.S. as evident in a few of my grow pics, I love to have a beer with my ladies…also serves as a great measuring device!
