What's up my fellow growers, I'm baaaaaaack. Today marks day 14 for my two lovely ladies and everything has been going great with no incident. Currently, I have the Autocob sitting 29" above the canopy and I'm feeding/watering approximately every two days. Being that this is my first grow - and I want it to be successful - I've been taking a more hands-off/ conservative approach. My logic being, it is better to be preventative and cautious than trying to recover from a mistake, i.e. overfeeding or watering.
*Update: After much deliberation, I decided to go ahead and top both ladies on day 16. I hope I didn't discourage overall yields.
What's up! So today marks day 21 from the time these two broke soil. On day 18 I decided to top both plants and last night (day 20) I began LSTing them. NL #2 doesn't look as perky as she typically does and I am thinking it's because today was a water/feed day for both plants; hopefully, she looks more enthusiastic tomorrow morning. I also chose to up their Mega Crop serving to 4g leaving all other nutrient servings the same. I'm hoping that they start bushing up here shortly being that they are being supplied with plenty of light (two 3500k AutoCobs in a 2x2.5 tent).
This is day 28 marking the last day of week four which was pretty much an uneventful week, which I presume to be a good thing. On day 26 I did a very light defoliation to both plants removing 6 fan leaves each. Additionally, I made the decision to back off of Mega Crop 0.5 grams due to my leaves turning a dark forest green. Lastly, I've continued my daily LST regiment on the ladies.
Until next time, PEACE!
What's up fellow growers? Just stopping by with a week five update. Preflower started this week for both plants. Everything has been easy sailing. The soil PH issue that I was experiencing last week has been resolved. I decided to raise the PH of my water/nutrients to 6.8-6.9 which caused my runoff to bounce from 5.8 to 6.5. Lights have been slowly lowered to about 18 inches above the canopy. I will continue to lower them until they begin showing light stress. I'm excited about the number of tops I've got so far and that I'm close to completely filling the tent/not wasting tent real estate. Next feeding I'm going to lower the Mega Crop by 0.5g/gal while adding 1.5g/gal of Bud Explosion.
These ladies have been drinking up everything thrown their way which has caused me to feed/water them more frequently. They are still growing like champs and I anxiously waiting to witness the final result.
These ladies are requiring an increasing amount of food and water daily. Today I performed a light defoliation mainly to strip the lower portion of both plants.
Still chugging along, but I must say I was expecting these two ladies to be further along than they currently are on day 48. Hopefully, their colas begin to fatten up in the next couple of weeks.
Another week of zero problems and 100% progress. As the weeks pass it becomes more and more evident that I am dealing with two different phenotypes - the plant on the left has short thick colas whilst the plant on the right exhibits tall and slender colas. If I had to guess, I would predict the left Northern Lights auto finishing first, because the left one seems to be comprised of mostly pistils.
Well, folks, it's almost time for the big chop. I'm going to begin a one week flush and then chop them down next week. This grow has been easy sailing minus a couple mess-ups on my part.
Quick tent update: this is the last week these ladies have to work with before they get the chop Sunday night. I would like to give them another week or so, but I have to leave on a business trip the beginning of next week and have no one to look after my plants. the shortest of the two plants has developed some rust spots, but I am not going to concern myself with the issue because they are at the end of the road.
This was a very easy strain to grow. I lucked up picking this for my first grow. Most issues (which were very few) I found to be a result of user error. Final weight was 203.2, but that doesn't account for the 23 grams of trim and 5 grams I gave away to a friend.
