Dumped a jar of seeds in lose dirt and watered soil directly afterwards. Snowed the day after placing seeds in dirt. May 9. Didn't expect them to survive the Frost. But placing seeds directly into soil could have saved me. Covering them with a thin layer of dirt keep them warm until fully germinated. Didn't bother to return for another week.
Second week. I would say all the good seeds I dropped have sprouted. Around 40 all together. Decided I would let them grow another week before returning to check on them. Still chilly at night. Surprised by how many sprouted.
Returned second week. Decided to transplant 10 of the best looking babies into pots to separate them from the bunch. Watered every 2 days. Around half gallon each. Direct sunlight, brought inside garage garage at night to protect from frost.
Still alive. Getting warmer. Getting plenty of sun. Tried to be gentle with watering. Every 3 days just enough to keep soil moist. A couple shriveled up, looked dried out. No nutrients. Growing slow imo, but noticeable taller
Decided to put 24 in lose dirt. 6 rows of 4. Around a foot apart. Still single set of leafs. Didn't top.
Lost 2. Accidentally step on during watering. Not enough space between plants it seems. Been using 4 gallons between them all. Every day. They are drinking it up. Very hot out. 80 during the day. No rain for a week. Water around 10 every morning. Noticed new set of leafs forming on top. Added nutrient mix to water. Main focus is my rows.
