5/29 - started 2x sour diesel and 2x critical bilbo on paper towel. Forgot to soak overnight so was pleasantly surprised that the SD popped after only 2 days. By mid-day 5/30 the SD was good to plant. Critical bilbo hasn't budged (yet!).
June 5 - 'Lil dudes seem to be coming along OK at week 1 and so far no issues with the new kids in the tent - huzzah!
Humidity is high here right now and spiked up to about 80-85% overnight when power flickered and my main fan kicked off but no issues with these four related to that yet. Temp didn't get over 80 with the power issue though the fluctuations over the last week have been as much as 10 degrees.
With better medium this time (Sunshine #4) I'm hoping I don't fry them like I did my first attempt at a grow. If anyone's using Sunshine #4 and has a recommendation on the exact water pH to tune to before using LMK!
Also, should I be adding more perlite to that mix? I have seen some comments that lightening the medium up even more will be beneficial in helping maintain pH as I'll be able to flush a bit easier and use nutes without worrying about overwatering / burning up the roots. Not that I'm at the point of transplanting them to the larger bags anyway but if anyone has suggestions for what to plan for when they get bigger, would love your thoughts!
Fingers crossed!!
13 June - I'm behind on posting so these are some catch-up pictures. This week I didn't water at all - realizing I've been guilty of overwatering like the newbie I am. Zero water, reduced the light a bit (I had it blaringly high) and lowered the tent temp by about 3-4 degrees so it stopped bumping up toward 80 mid-day.
Heading into week 3. The critical bilbo went through a bit of trauma when first planted (one fell over, they were in an area of the tent that got too hot/too much moisture for one night, so they're not doing the greatest. One seems to be back on track but the other is pretty janky still. We'll see what happens. I will transplant them to their 3 Gals soon but want to give them as much time in the solos as possible to dry out before the switch.
The sour diesel auto seems to be bouncing back from the transplant to the 3s OK.
Should probably water in the next few days but I'm holding off as long as possible... maybe sacrificing getting the nutes balanced sooner by skipping the watering but I think letting them dry out was most important.
Moved these two kids outside during the day to acclimate them. Planning to switch to a full outdoor grow next week - right now they're getting ~ 6 hours outside with about 2 hours in full sun and the rest is part sun to avoid any leaf burn. I got a bit of curling today when the heat jumped up but they seem OK. Decent growth at this point (I think!).
Had a bit of a nutes issue (purpling) but gave them some clonex and a touch of cal-mag the last watering and they seem to be doing better for the new growth!
