Got this seed as a freebie. Figure testing with this first before I try the seeds I actually ordered. I think I'm going to plant this in the ground as I won't be able to tend to it for long stretches. Day 1: Planted the seed directly in the loam soil mix. Used a 4" pot and watered lightly with tap water twice, hours apart, on the first day. Covered with cling film and punched a few holes in it. Using a spray bottle now and then to moisten the soil. Day 2: I noticed the seedlings "tail" was poking out of the soil. I decided to gently reposition the seedling so that the part where the cotyledons would pop out were above the soil. I think I could've avoided this by wetting the soil first before planting the seed to make sure the soil underneath was wet enough to attract the baby root. Day 3: Put her out to see the sun for the first time but she got rained on a bit. I noticed the seedling didn't grow much today so I was afraid the soil got too wet. I turned the soil a bit with a small stick to try and aerate the soil and dry it out. Day 4: More sun than yesterday, put the plant out on the roof to dry out the soil. It worked and I'm seeing new growth in between the cotyledons.

1 week after planting the seed and I'm putting the plant out during the day. Lots of sun but I think it might be too hot for the tiny thing so I check on it when I can and bring it in and out of the house to try and balance light and heat exposure.

Do I need to do anything for this seedling? One of its cotyledons looks like it's dying and the other looks like it's curling upward. Leaving it out under full sun for 6-8 hours a day.

Maybe not so much full sun until it has a little more root
