June 22
This will be sparsely updated.
Lophophora Williamsii - Peyote Cactus x 26 seeds
Trichocereus Bridgesii - Bolivian Torch Cactus x 26 seeds
First ever grow attempt for cactus seeds.
Followed youtube tutorials.
From what I read it'll require roughly a year of high humidity so this grow will be updated probably in this order:
First update new week 2 veg - First signs of photographic evidence of germination succeeding OR proof of mold and or death, and diary will close.
Then every visible growth difference over time will be updated, most likely monthly.
Maturity takes 3-5 years. That's a commitment to this diary i'm not going to make yet.
At the very least this gives people an ability to see the beginning stages of these cacti.

Wow! Okay so I'm impressed. They're not only germinated, they're twice to 3 times the size of the seeds I put in.
Perfect temps seem to be:
25+ during day
20~ during night
Celsius.
Humidity needs to be:
80% +
So since day 7 is today, I will be leaving the cacti alone for at least another week.
I don't think I will open the saranwrap tops and expose the cacti to different air. So far so good on mold front, don't want to add in more spores.
Probably wait till day 21 before I attempt to do anything further.
When I open the saranwrap top I'll take tons of photos.
Having the cacti saranwrap pots inside a germination chamber works well in my opinion. Helps keep ambient temps up as wind or air movement doesn't effect anything inside chamber.

Update .
Hard to see inside with saran wrap, but I dont see mold at all. I see rapid growth in the cacti on both Peyote and bolivian torch. And bolivian torch has great germination rate so far.
I have no desire to fuck this up, so I'm going to just continue to be patient.
I'll go back and check once in awhile for mold, but unless I see it. I will not remove saranwrap for awhile.
I'll figure out a way to take photos with saran wrap on the top.
Cacti are doing great!
Finally took them out of tent to get some good shots.
Peyote seeds are not just peyote. I don't know if that's an issue I caused planting both at once and some fell into the peyote (the bolivian torch seeds) or if I got a mix from breeder by accident.
Time will tell.
This is technically week 3. Doesn't really matter.
Grow guide says I can't open for first 4 to 6 months for saran wrap sooooo this gonna be loooooong wait.
That'd peg this saran wrap opening for October 22nd or December 22nd.
I won't be moving them again for 2 weeks. I don't like how it moved the humidity off the top and back into the soil and I don't like potentially disturbing the soil and making cracks/fissures that expose cacti roots.

Doing very well.
Pretty much all to say. It's just a waiting game of months at this point.
Remove saranwrap on T-Bridgseii bolivian torch when they touch top, peyote can go a full year.

Growing very well.
No mold so far, no death of cacti so far, all is green and healthy.
Attached a blown up photo to see a baby peyote. cute little thing.
Bolivian Torch has slowed in growth compared to peyote.. which is odd. Not worried at all.

Little update, they're growing nicely.
I think 1 or 2 bolivian are brown and potentially dying.
Got about 10 peyote of 26 seeds, and couple rando's.
Surprisingly some of the peyote is growing much quicker than the Bolivian Torch. Dunno why but I doubt that'll last long.
Quick update, been more than a week but these things grow so damn slow there's not much to update with.
Easiest thing to grow though, heat pad, sealed top... I don't do anything for 6+ months... Pretty easy to do.
Long time no see!
Had enough bud to not grow for awhile, finished some shit.
Started hardening these cacti last week. First gave them 5 days no heat mat in tent, then moved them up to a window with heat pad. They're doing okay. have 10 of each.
Like i said at beginning, posts come few and far between on this one cause it takes 6-12 months before the saranwrap comes off and I transplant for the first time.
Once these have breached the stage to "true cacti" being mostly in a dry environment (hoping summer 2022) i'll consider this grow complete and "harvested" closing it.
Well it's been 21 weeks
Finally got rid of the wrapping.
The Peyote needed watering about 1.5 months ago and have been surviving off water droplets from saran wrap - The drying out has helped them age quicker than the torches
The Bolivian Torch needed less watering at least 1.5 months ago and have been soaked and need drying out between mistings.
Misting at ph 7.0
Amazing grow! Really good job dude! I wish you the best results with the most delicious buds!
Nice to see your journals! I will drop by some times to check your progress!
Feel free to come by and say hello!
Happy growing 🥦🤩
