Using Biotabs as nutrient system for the first time! I used to grow in soil with liquid mineral nutrients, then switched to hydro for more control and consistency which lead to much better quality. Now I am trying the 'living soil' idea where the microbes feed the plants, the goal of course is MAXIMUM TERPENE PRODUCTION 😍😎😀
--> started in hydro but summer will be too hot for hydro (root rot!!!) so she was transplanted to soil (and the sour ripper given to a friend, I started a new sour ripper seed in soil for this run).
I am super excited for this run since I will also add uvb supplement (migro uvb310) and the last time I had good cannabis was 7 years ago and a strain I had already grown several times but that time I grew it with uvb supplement it was nearly a different category substance with a clear gap between the uvb supplement grow and standard grows. So I am HYPED to say the least!
Successfully transplanted from hydro to soil (4 litres), she was shocked for 4 days then started to pickup.
She actually has some nice plant smells going on I am surprised she stinks for a vegging plant!
I followed the standard biotabs instructions adapting for a 4L pot, with 1 biotab.
I spray the top layer of soil with a bit of water if its slightly dry (from fan wind), I weight the pot on a scale to see when I need to add water - I know I can do it on feeling but I am so used to having full control with hydro I can't leave it up to feeling!!! haha
Will chop her head off soon 😈
she is now in 25L fabric pot, everything going easy with the biotabs stuff but I am prepared to see nutrient deficiencies since she has become a bit big and not sure if I put enough tabs in the soil I will probably add crumble in a biotab if she shows N shortage during stretch (I want N shortage for the last 2-4 weeks before harvest).
Gave her some pk compost tea to see if it helps (she reacted well to it)
signs of N shortage, fed with some orgatrex + bactrex and crumbled in an extra biotab (I crumbled it because it sais its a 2.5 month slow release but I want it to be used up in 2 months or less to get a good fade and clean-smoking flowers)
myea she is showing N shortage at the start of flower... this will reduce stretching and impact yields a bit... but she if big enough is should be fine :D
I crumbled in a biotab last week I don't think I should add more biotabs, I add pk compost every week (even though it should only be after day 20 of flower... I add small amounts with bactrex, mycotrex, orgatrex and the pk compost; next grow I will probably follow the biotabs guidelines and give it only after the stretch.
nice lime green color to all the bud sites, plants nice and healthy all going smooth and easy with biotabs so far :D
Update day f21:
Did a defoliation on all plants, since they are small and do not take up much space I did only a minor defoliation to expose bud sites to more light and remove the under developed bud sites.
Gave some pk compost tea she seems to have responded very well :D
Removed many minor bud sites from this CBD plant, she already has so many bud sites!
She reacted well to the defoliation and pk boost compost tea!!!
She is later than the other plants with starting resin production.
As you can see the harvest will be small, I didn't fill the surface of my tent but also it is summer and to stay safe from mold problems I keep it nice and airy :D
