7-23: Again problems with pH, meter got dropped and waiting for replacement. Also lost a lot of water due to a leak. Had to add bout a gallon to reservoir and contemplating how much nutrients she lost. Trying to follow Fast Buds feed chart.
7-26: I'm sure I lost a few days for her to recover, yet she seems to be moving along. Today she is about 4 inches tall. Should be having a new pH meter arrive today. π
7-30: was so so glad to get the pH meter. Been guessing using a pool pH test kit, didn't do horribly bad. PH was about 6.8 when tested it.
8-3: Been trying to deal with a possible calcium deficiency and have not been pleased with the results I've on her as well as other plants we are going. Going to try something different, thinking there's a possibility it's not a deficiency yet rather a toxicity situation. So did a thorough flush and am slowly adding grow and boom nutrients back. See what happens.
Good luck. Just some things I see I would do. Make your bucket light tight as roots DO NOT like light....plus shit will grow inside. I would use peroxide to keep things sterile in nutrient water or some other product. This means that you cannot use things like Great White as they are living things and will be killed off by running a sterile system. I used to grow like this and loved it..I used ZONE by dutch master. Also if your nutrient solution climbs to 80f or higher you will get root death. Oxygenate your buckets well also. Good luck hope all goes well :)
@Ketamine,
Thank you for your comments. I do keep the buckets sealed from light, yet plan to expand this by going with colored feed lines instead of clear like I presently use. Also plan to change some of the drain lines to colored since I've seen roots growing up the sight tube.
Interesting thought on sterilizing the solution water... have to give that some thought as I am now using great white.
Thanks again for stopping by and look forward to any comments you may have in the future.
Yeah no ph meter would make it tough hope it gets delivered today :) Following this as I just love DWC...here is a youtube link of mine years ago like 4
yrs ago. www.youtube.com/watch
Sorry to hear you are having difficulties. I used to also do bucket DWC. A few things I do know about doing it that way is : 1 make sure you have good aeration. 2. Make sure water temp is not high. 3. I ran a "sterile" system as so no bad pathogens can grow and cause root rot. If you are using Organics it is simply setting your root zone up for a host of nasty things.
I ran PH of 5.8 with 150 PPM (500 scale) CalMag , and 500 PPM of nutes as the roots are actually in it 24/7 and do not need more than that IMO. You probably know all this already , but thought I would say it anyway and good luck friend hope all goes well π
