I’m very excited to grow these Roc Bud Purple Chem Auto beans! Germination rate was 100%. I’m testing out a homemade soil mix specifically made for autoflowers. I’m hoping that the mix is dialed in!
All four beans popped and are growing steady. All four seem to show identical traits so far but we will see if that changes once they start to get bigger. I’ve found it rare to get autos that have consistent or similar traits in one run. I guess that’s what autos are known for but it would be nice to finally find some consistency so I don’t have to jar each plant separately!
They seem to be enjoying the soil mix, I was worried because I didn’t go any lighter than I would on a mix made for photoperiods but all amendments are 100% organic and aren’t 100% available all of the time so I’m happy to see no “burn”. For this auto soil mix I also added almost twice the amount of rock dust vs usual. I did this because I wanted to add a steady source of calcium and trace elements to help prevent any immobile or micronutrient deficiencies that could cause stress. I made the soil mix with around 40% aeration because I feel that autoflowers do best when grown in an airy substrate. This is my first time using this soil so I may have to tweak it as time goes on but I plan to test a lot of autos from all different breeders in this mix to determine if I can use it consistently for all of my auto grows.
These girls are looking great! Right now it seems that the two pots that have plastic around the rhizosphere are growing the fastest. I may have to keep testing this out to see if I get the same results!
These Purple Chems are doing awesome! I’ve decided to LST two phenos and keep the other two natural. Unfortunately one of the LST’d phenos isn’t catching up with the rest so hopefully she gets bigger or else she will get dominated by the other three and get no light. Right now only feeding with bio-stimulants but will keep a close eye out for changes in vigor to determine whether she needs to be fed or not.
These girls completely exploded with the exception of one phenotype. I believe the three others outcompeted her for light and she got left behind. The other three grew like literal weeds. One pheno grew over a foot within 5 days! She put me in a bad situation as she was literally touching the ceiling and grow light in my box. I had to buy another grow light, a @marshydroled SP150 that I will have to rig up in a closet for now to let my photoperiod finish so I can get my Purple Chems in the 2x4 with actual ceiling space. I’m mad about the timing because she was going to be an awesome plant but now her top portions are heat stressed, light burned and the pistils on the apical are fried. Also currently battling a gnarly fungus gnats infestation. Going to be trying Mammoth Canncontrol because my predators cannot keep up with their population.
These girls are all starting to do their own thing. Each pheno is reacting slightly different to the same medium and feeding schedules. The tallest phenotype seems to be fading quite hard for this stage of flower but still seems to be healthy regardless. I have a feeling that pheno will finish first as my Roc’s Auto Mix did the exact same thing…
She’s fading like crazy but bulking up steady so I’m happy! She really needs to bulk up for about another 3-4 weeks before she’s ready. Excited to see the color change from here!
These four purple Chem phenos are LOUD! I can’t even open the tent for less than a minute without the entire house reeking. I’m hope she keeps that pungent smell all the way through curing!
These girls are finally coming to an end and I have to say that these are some of the loudest auto genetics I have ever grown! I will be chopping them sometime this week. I’m excited to see how they turn out!
I would say that the soil mix that I made did a pretty good job, I will have to test it some more to verify how it does with various strains but so far so good! For anybody interested I will post the soil recipe.
