An attempt at my favourite weed to smoke. A single seed that was a give-away with the Gorilla Glue covered in another diary.
Thanks wietzaadjes.nl :)
Day 1 - Seed opened overnight and the radicle was 1.5cm by this evening.😍 Planted in a cocos pellet, in an incubator. Light on 10% at 10cm.
Day 2 - helmet head appeared. By the end of the day the cotyledons were freee.. :)
Day 3 - She's off, first tiny leaves
Day 6 - The root appeared from the bottom of the pellet. Time to pot her up !
Day 7 and she is in a seedling bag. Light(100W LED) @ 25% and about 9cm. Might play with that a bit, lets see.
Fertigation once per day with the mix above. Will probably be twice per day at the end of the week.
Now she is my only plant. She is going to get a lot of attention :)
Week 2 was good. She grew some healthy root mass in the seedling bag.
By the end of the week she was ready to pot on to the next size.
I found some 3l growing bags that have velcro up the side, to make potting up again easier. We'll see, could be good, could be a fucking mess.😅
Also constructed a self draining tray, which considering I'm fergitating twice a day manually with a lot of run-off, is saving a lot of time.
At this point, we are happy bunnies and everything looks good.... little did I know ..
Not a good week. It's obvious I've burned her 😥
This week has been pure flushing with pH6.5 water in an effort to keep the new growth unaffected.
I don't understand. I'm using the low end of the scale for Bio Grow and ActiVera, TDS going in around 700, run-off was way over 1000ppm.
At the end of the week, the run-off is down to 730ppm and it looks like all new growth is healthy.
By the end of this week i"m confident she will survive. Root growth is phenomenal and since there's burn damage to some of the main 'engine' leaves, I though it would be a good time to start trying to get some light to the lower nodes. Attempt number 1 at LST starts here..
Of course, now I'm very wary about adding nutrients, so will be extra careful and slowly add a little to the twice daily fergitation.
A positive week. 👌
Things weren't getting any better treating for nutrient burn. After 10 days of just pH balanced water, new growth started showing yellow tips and a couple of days ago, brown spots on one leaf that was clean before.
SO - I've done some research and come to the conclusion that this is likely to be a Potassium deficiency - which would make sense as it got worse after I stopped giving nutrients. Why a K deficiency when I'd been using a good organic NPK ? Well apparently it is difficult for the roots to absorb K if the pH is higher than 5.5 ish.
I'm in a hard water area and the tap water has a lot of calcium. Base pH for me is 8.5 @ 299 TDS. I was getting the feed down to 6.5, consistent with the coco substrate.
Now I've spent 2 days fergitating with a NPK and some trace element boost. TDS is 892 @ pH 5.56
I don't know , could also be light stress I suppose. We shall see.
