FAIRLY NEW TO GROWING!!
WOULD LOVE ALL YOUR WONDERFUL ADVICE!!
:)))
My names Rob, I am a new Northern California grower. This late season I have started 10 LA KUSH CAKE healthy clones.
They're looking good so far - I've only just transplanted them this week, adding the microfungi root enhancers to hopefully help stimulate a fast and healthy root formation in my Panda wrap pots. I used 4 '707' organic living soil packages (20 gals of soil in each) ... Around 8 gal soil within each plant.
I am yet to start adding organic Fish Hydrolysate- a buddy told me to wait three weeks and then slowly add a tablespoon, or two, within my water mixes...
He said to read the plants and increase as they get larger in size -
Would love to hear other peoples comments on this.
When is the best time to start feeding my plants this? Should I do more than just Fish Hydrolysate?
I understand that plants can take on tons of nutrients - but I also understand how they can be over fertile too.
I'm mostly concerned right now in making sure my plants maintain that more dry/moist ratio - I've been watering kind of heavy once a day around 5 or 6pm
I also topped the outer sides of my plant with an organic grass hay bedding for rabbits that I picked up from my local pet food store -
Happy to share my plants growth with all of you over these next periods of time, hoping to share my experience and others within the cannabis community.
The moisture in the soil after the first 3 days of transplant was wetter than I anticipated.
I've been using a '3 gallon' flowering pot - separated evenly for all 10 of my clones -
Gnats and flies have been coming so this I believed to be an indication that my soil is too wet I believe.
The next following three weeks I am going to be doing about '1 1/2 gallons' per ALL 10 plants - seperated evenly.
These last couple days i've been letting the plants soak up all the available moisture... Hoping maybe my overwatering will be affected in a positive way in regards to the new root formations.
My PH coming out of my tap hose is around 7.8 - this is something i'd like to keep constant for this season if I can.
I'm not seeing any sign of stress, discoloration, or anything yet.
I understand ideally it would be smarter to lower it a couple numbers, however it makes it easier to not have to get a PH down and mix into my watering solution -
DO YOU THINK THIS HIGH PH WILL AFFECT MY YIELD AND PLANTS LIFE EVENTUALLY ?!?!
The plants are all looking healthy so far I think, let me know what you think cannabis fam!!
Air quality very poor and smokey in California this week-
7/6/21
Over the past week my plants have been growing a lot quicker. I'd say about an inch every night or so.
They still have 0 signs of any pests. The only bug I've seen are a rainbow dragonfly, and above is a picture of a ladybird black/orange ladybug.
Ladybugs in general are good, this one specifically is actually supposed to mean good fortune. Hopefully this means my plants.
This past week I have been giving my plants longer to run their feed - giving them 48 or 72 hours to run through the watering mix - and almost fully dry it out before I feed them again.
I also have added the nutrient 'terpinator' 0-0-4
... This is giving aid to my plants potassium for it's later veg and leading into flowering stages. I will slowly increase the ml of this to around 30 for my three gallon watering pot I use. Slowly increasing the potassium as it begins to enter flowering should make sure the trichome production and buds are juicy and dank!
That all for now, excited to come into the later stages!! WOO HOO!
Cali smoke on and off lately- plants don't seem to mind too much.
They've been flowering for more than about a week now - I've up'd my nutrients a tiny tiny bit - fairly consistent though.
A couple of pests - leafhoppers - have been spotted tearing some small holes on a couple of my leaves
Just have been flicking off about two or three everyday, nothing to serious to worry about I think.
Also, I sprayed a foliar spray 'Diamatacious Earth' about a week ago - all over the bottoms and under sides of my plants - I'm hoping to not have to re apply another spray but might in the next couple of weeks if pests continue to infiltrate!
I went overboard on the tablespoons I used in my hand sprayer, applied a thick layer haha.
OVERALL - Plants maintaining healthy growth. Might look to lollipop or remove some unneeded giant fan leaves soon!!
THANKS FOR READING!! AUGUST 26, 2021
Cali Smoke on and off again - plants don't seem to mind -
Leafhoppers not very noticed this past week, mini caterpillars come around and eat holes in the leaves every bit or so.
Plant growth of flowers persistent and new noticeable bud growth just about every other day within the colas.
LA KUSH CAKE has gorgeous umbrella growth with non overwhelming foliage-
Larger fan leaves seem to form in the middle/upper part of the plant.
A smaller portion of newer bud formations are blocked by some fan leaves - very very minimal. I don't see it to be overwhelming - I will be letting the plants continue normal growth with no stressing/ trimming of leaves. The only stress work i've done is hand pulling when I go to look at my plants... Giving them some light gentle pushes to grow outward in the middle and lower part of the plant. I also have removed very few lower positioned leaves that are starting to yellow (SIGN OF EXPENDING ENERGY FOR FLOWERING PHASE)
I am very impressed with the top cola's that these Kush cakes all are forming. Hope they get even bigger and juicier looking :))
THANKS FOR READING ALL !!
Visibly noticed my plants fully able to drink through my 3gal feed in more like two days rather than 3 - I’ve been feeding them within those timelines lately. Still healthy stressing these girls. Genetics on full blast here.
No signs of any pests- won’t be adding any other precautionary D Earth or insecticidal soap. Gonna run it and hope for the best. Fingers crossed.
I will be weening nutrients down a tiny bit these next upcoming weeks leading into flush! Steady growing into October now fam!
Visual//. underwatering a bit - since flowering could of raised it a bit - I am
still feeding only 3 gal only for ALL eight and a half basically small plants _
genetics looking superb still and health is booming still!!
Casually been trimming couple smaller leafs on bottoms that form- very reserved trimming though -
also Low stress tugging them every night to help lower branches into nicer isolated grow areas - babying them during these phases, watching for pests
Okay no more messing around I’ve upped the watering to around 4.5 gal per eight half plants - Was gone last three days
Cali weather good now and in 90’s!
Plants have had little water///stressing healthy genetics here - 707 heavy water holding soil had held up thankfully -
- low stress bending methods still at work. Super slow pouring on watering feeds especially now when top soil seems a bit flatter and dryer.
These panda film pots SUCK, very good water hold as little drainage and tough for even water and no spillage sometimes - maybe this is why people invest in a gallon per minute reverse osmosis pump water gun
Stronger smells now of that goodness
From seed - LA Kush Cake - Just about done-
Started flush three days ago.
Very stinky and sticky now- piney lemon aromas of stankkkk kushhhh
La kush cake can run into mid October but going to pull sooner than 15th probably…
Caterpillars became very active last week and I’ve been picking one off my my top cola every twelve hours or so :/ … luckily they’ve focused on two specific plants so just babying them now making sure they don’t destroy all my gorgeous work. Lil buggards burrow into the nugs decay the buds fast so precious state right now during this time of year/ state of plant.
Really earthy, sweet aromas. Purples took over last few weeks on some of the leaves. I could of ran maybe even another couple weeks. I actually ran one of the plants another 2 on dry flush. It was a good outdoor run
