Here goes my first grow. Seeds germinated by a friend and handed over to me as seedlings. Wish me luck, premium seeds as a first grow makes me rather nervous! 😂
Started the week off with a watering, added 1ml/ltr of Environoc just to ensure the soil is happy. Looking forward to this weeks growth! 😁
(Monday): Adjusted height of light, the little guy has gained some height.
(Thursday): Some much needed water. No nutes, only PH water.
(Friday): Pot was quite dry, may be suffering from under watering. Will see how she does 🙌🏼
This week had me feel like I was I going to have to start all over again, but I made some drastic decisions, took some drastic action and the final 2 days of this week have me feeling like a fully fledged farmer.
As the heading suggests this is my first Cannabis grow, but this is also the first grow of any sorts besides some mold I grew in unpacked lunchboxes back in Primary School.
I've learnt a lot this week, and joined a community of growers who have been a fantastic help this far. They have taught me that although there's a definite science to this growing, there are still many ways to skin this cat.
My last photo from last week showed my seedling not looking too great, I had hope all would sort itself out after some water and some changed routine. Needless to say, it didn't. Things got worse. Not only for this 1 I'm tracking in this diary but all seedlings in my tent.
Some guidance lead me to believe my soil was definitely an issue and sure to cause me more issues in the future. So I was advised to get my hands on some trusted soil and do the best I can to remove a lot of the old soil and repot. I went ahead with this on Wednesday night (My new weeks begin on a Saturday), less that 48 hours later there is drastic improvement in all 3 I re-homed and I'm not looking back. Tonight I look at a happy plant ready to begin my new week tomorrow.
This week was filled with some good growth and better colour. I'm super happy with their progress.
This week is a little delayed as I have been away for 4 days, but all on track and smiling with week 4's progress already.
This week I didn't do much different. I did start feeding some Biobizz, this week just got some Bio-Grow 2ml/ltr. Next week I will half that to 1ml.
Looking for an Amino booster of sorts in my area to add to the feed until flower, Bio-Heaven is very pricey I may give that a go on my next grow.
Otherwise not much of an update here, they're going strong and I'm happy. Thanks for looking!
Been an exciting week since back from a 4 day holiday. Got back to plants all up in each others business, had a friend come in and water them while gone but didn't trust him to do much more 😂
So Monday night I plugged the 2nd light in and spread the pots out. They seem to be loving the added light.
Tuesday night I figured these babies were gaining too much height, time for LST. I must admit, bending these little buggers the way I did had me in a panic! Although it was somewhat therapeutic. I imagine the stress being less as confidence is built and technique is gained.
Since then I've been making small adjustments to the LST and even topped the 2 bigger plants in my tent (this being one of them). Only got told afterwards it's suggested to rather Top the plant wait a while and then begin LST, But so we learn. I also chopped off my first leaf tonight which felt terrible, but I'm sure I did the right thing haha 😂
This weekend I plan to set them in to their final pots, 11lt Airpots. Also hoping to find me an amino booster of sorts to add to the feed.
It's been a slow week in comparison to the previous weeks. Subtle changes are still exciting, seeing future bud sites pop up and add a new shade of green in the mix is really cool.
Monday night I moved my 3 plants into their new and final pots, 11ltr Air pots. This was nerve wrecking to say the least 😂.
The LST made this process a little challenging as I feel I had to be a lot more careful. Roots looked good and more Freedom farm soil to cover up my initial screw up felt good.
The smells coming from this tent have been surprising. Most people told me this would only be an issue during flower. This is definitely not the case and so I purchase a 4" carbon filter from my local grow shop along with a fresh bag of Freedom Farms soil!
I would skip the 2nd pots next time around, top them when a little younger, let them recover and then transplant in to final pot AND THEN begin LST. These new pots are messy and added to my humidity by more than 20%. I couldn't believe it, having Installed my carbon filter that same day as changing pots I though the extractor fan wasn't getting enough air out with the filter. Removing that proved to be fruitless as I had over 80% humidity in the tent for a day. I made some changes to my extraction, added a passive intake and changed the filter layout. All is looking great environment wise again.
Looking forward to this weeks growth and the lessons it will bring! 😁👌
Not a massive update this week, LST makes the growth seemingly slower and less exciting in pictures, it's the subtle differences seen only by the eye which still amazes me daily!
Lots of LST this week, my methods have caused all the growth to land up on 1 side of the pot, experimenting as I go to try get them more centered. Taking Pics of this one alone has also become a challenge now that the width of the tent has been consumed 😂.
Only BioBizz - Grow used this week, will be getting something extra in the next week to add to the feed. They're looking healthy, few discoloured leaves from an earlier mistake I assume, but nothing else strange happening thus far.
If you look closely you can see how I messed up the topping of this plant, some leaves look as if they've been eaten, this is not a pest issue but a noob grower issue, interested to see how those leaves hold up in the new few weeks 😅
Thanks for looking 🙏
I didn't document much this week, trying to get the plant to gain some height before the flip next week.
Out of my 3 this 1 proved to be the worst trained 😂. All growth happened on 1 side of the pot making it a bit of a mission to position in the tent. I'd say it's simply a lesson learnt, what not to do for my next grow. The other 2 aren't much better since I used the same technique on them all, but the 1 which was smallest took to the training well and I was able to keep it somewhat centered.
Another week of just 1ml/ltr of Bio-Grow. I'm not convinced that it "NEEDED" anything more, but I will try something a little different during veg of my next grow.
I'm late again with this update, but better late than never they say.
This will be the final Veg week, flipping happens tomorrow. New learning experience awaits!
Nothing exciting to reflect on this week, growth looks good and plants are healthy as they have been, they are drinking more water than previously having the plants look a little more sad before and shortly after watering. I expect to have to water more frequently when the flowering stage begins.
Something not mentioned in a while or at all here is a weekly spray I give them of Epsom Salts and water. This leaves some marks on the leaves that could be mistaken for PM, but I assure you it's not! 😂 Other than that only the usual Bio-Grow for these ladies, this week some bloom gets added to the mix. 8 weeks Veg was my initial thought, so still running on schedule for a great Christmas smoke 😬
My First week of Flower! Yay!
So damn excited to reap the rewards of this grow, although I am aware of the 2 months still to go 😂
I spoiled them with 2 new nutrients for grow, fresh from the grow shop. Although pricey, I've seen great results from fellow growers using the BioBizz range. I do believe there are cheaper options and as I grow and learn I'll get brave enough to start experimenting with nutes. Grow, Bloom, Heaven and Top Max all serving their purpose in this grow and with the added light these plants are surely loving it.
I've stopped with all training, rather scared of defoliation and my little research sessions make it seem as I'm too late to be doing that anyway. Would be cool to get some advice on that.
Thanks for looking, exciting times ahead! 😁👌
*Noticed the pictures dissapeared, I've added them again 24.10
2nd week of Flower has been super exciting. I can confirm all are Female for sure. I was warned these seeds don't react well to stress and so I should be careful of Herming. Definitely keeping a close eye for anything suspicious 😅.
The nutes dosages are changing weekly, but all the same stuff being used from last week. Following the BioBizz schedule as is.
Went away this week so didn't get many photos unfortunately. Next week will definitely see more. Thanks for Looking 😁
*Missing pictures, re-added 24.10
The flowering process is so amazing! These plants really are something else, hey! 😍
As a first time grower seeing these flowers develop has had me waking up like it's Christmas morning for 3 weeks straight. The growth is amazing and I'm really loving seeing the changes daily.
This week some problems showed face. What seemed to be a Calcium deficiency was pointed out by a friend which lead me to assuming a low PH. Last water this week was done at 6.3 instead of the usual 5.8, I'm hoping to see an improvement in the upcoming days.
Nutrients are all listed above, only 1ml added to both Grow and Heaven this week.
Big defoliation happened on Friday night, had a friend come over and take some cuttings, not the best time to do it but better late than never I guess 😂
Going on week 4 now I expect some further bud development and perhaps a slower rate of stretching. This is all new to me, learning as I go, been an awesome journey this far! 😁
This week had it's ups and downs 😂.
Here is sunny South Africa we're getting "load-shedding", basically our government are a bunch of crooks who have stuffed up every government owned entity including our Electricity supply, resulting in the need to reduce consumption and therefore switching our power off for certain hours of the day. I'm sure all indoor growers can imagine the struggles this brings.
During night cycle it's not too much of a worry, the tent loses airflow for 2-3 hours but it's something i've just had to deal with, during the day cycle im forced to have spare phones charged to use their torches as some form of light during these hours 😂. This week in particular one of these "Load-shedding" events in conjunction with poor municipal maintenance we sat without power for a full 25hrs, batteries on everything died, tent RH was up in the early 90 percentile and my butt cheeks just clenched the entire time from fear of pests and mildew haha.
Despite the struggles, the ladies are looking well and ready to tackle the next weeks issues 😅.
I noticed some slightly burnt tips on the ladies so this week they got 1 feed and 1 plain watering with no nutes, I think I'll be doing all future feeding this way.
Hope you like the pics this week, thanks for looking 😁
