End of germination week - 5/6 seeds germinated.
Looking OK so far but I have just barely finished my first ever grow which was photoperiod so this will be my first attempt with autos.
End of week 1 veg.
One seedling looks quite odd, twisted leaves and slightly mutated - it will hopefully straighten out as time goes on.
The other 4/5 seedlings look nice and healthy so far.
End of week 2 veg.
The plants are looking OK for the most part, they have grown a lot but they sometimes look slightly wilted. It is definitely not over/under watering so I'm wondering if my temperatures in the tent are a little high for autos at ~26c.
The one weird looking seedling continues to show mutated growth with blotchy twisted leaves.
All 5 plants are showing pistils at the base of the fan leaves so I'm not sure if this should technically be the first week of flowering!
End of week 3.
Plants are growing fast now - looks like 3/5 are turning purple and all seem to be doing OK. The mutant seedling continues to show some weird leaf defects but is flowering well so it should be worth keeping to harvest.
They are starting to smell very strong already compared to last run of Maple Leaf Indica, every time I open the tent the whole rooms reeks. The smell is actually not very nice at all - sort of like raw liver for some reason, very pungent and metallic.
End of week 4.
Nothing major to report, plants are doing OK so far and they seem to have finished stretching now.
Buds are starting to fill in a little now, have been considering whether I want to perform any defoliation or not. Only a couple of bud sites seem to be shaded so I will probably just leave the plants alone. It's kind of nice to just see what happens when the plants are left to do their thing without any human intervention.
End of week 5.
Bud sites have started to fill out nicely this week, didn't really notice it until I compared to the photo from a week ago.
The tent as a whole is still giving off quite a strange and unpleasant smell, in fact the only plant that actually smells at all like lemons is the smallest plant with the mutated leaves!
All the other plants look nice, but they all smell completely different so it seems to be quite an inconsistent strain.
The best way I can describe them would be :
Plant 1 (back left) - smells like raw liver/blood, metallic and pungent - very unpleasant!
Plant 2 (front left) - smells like rubber/spicy
Plant 3 (middle) - smells like artificial lemon candy/soap
Plant 4 (back right) - smells herbal and earthy
Plant 5 (front right) - smells sweet and flowery
I am sure things will change as the flowers mature some more, and drying/curing can probably also affect the terp profile in a big way, but so far these plants are definitely in the '😕' category for me.
Perhaps the strangest thing is that the buds from my previous Maple Leaf Indica run smell much more citrussy compared to these Purple Lemonades so far at least.
End of week 6.
This week has not been so good, 4/5 of the plants are still doing OK but the shorter plant in the middle with the mutated leaves developed some bud rot in the main cola so I had to chop the top off. The humidity has been around 50-55% which should be fine but I think that mutated plant just has really weak and strange genetics which made it susceptible to disease. So far I have to say this grow has been quite a disappointment, the quality and consistency of this strain is just not there.
Hopefully they will finish up in the next 1-2 weeks and I can move on to something else.
End of week 7.
This week has been better than the last. Thankfully there have been no other signs of bud rot on any of the plants, but I have added a couple of extra air circulation fans just in case.
Comparing to last week the buds are still filling out and the fan leaves are fading nicely. The trichomes actually look like they are at peak potency on a couple of plants with ~95% milky and ~5% amber but I am probably going to let the plants run for another week as I would prefer a slightly more couch-lock type of high.
Also happy to report that the smell from the plants has improved in the past week - a couple of plants are still not very great smelling (the one pheno that smells like raw liver, and the one that smells like rubber) but overall the smell from the tent is now very sweet. Not a single hint of lemon though, just a generic sweet weed smell!
EDIT: Spoke too soon! Found a very small patch of bud rot starting on one of the other purple phenos - thankfully it's the one with disgusting terps that smells like raw liver. Have chopped all of them down now so I will update the diary in a week or two when they are dry.
Mixed feelings about this strain, I probably won't grow it again but it was still an interesting first grow for autos.
Pros:
Fast flowering, no hermies.
Good potency.
Cons:
Very unstable both in appearance and smell/taste.
Only 4/6 seeds seeds produced healthy plants (1 was mutated, 1 did not germinate).
Susceptible to bud rot.
Well that was an interesting, but also quite disappointing first auto run!
I do feel the genetics for this strain are too unstable, the terp profiles are really all over the place and the purple colour is not stable either (no big deal there). The buds are airy but the potency is good.
The plants were dried slowly over 14 days to give the terps the best chance to develop and there was definitely a big improvement over the smell of the growing plants which could be pretty disgusting at times.
Some plants do have a somewhat Lemony smell but overall they are quite random. Strangely enough the plants that remained green seem to have been the healthiest of the bunch.
At the end of the day I still ended up with some potent weed to smoke but it could have been much better. Perhaps this kind of variability is to be expected with Autoflowers, I am very new to all this but I have some more strains to try so time will tell...

Nice plants. I know you may be disappointed by the overall grow and quality for this strain but you haven’t done bad at all IMHO
Plants look healthy but maybe it’s because the pot size is so small for them. Maybe 1 or 3 gal pots would yielded a bigger harvest and give them the ability to develop a better root zone n ward off diseases through increase nutrient uptake n metabolic processes
I’m still excited to see how these turn out as the purple phenols certainly look delicious.
Do all of them have the same smell or are the purple phenos a little different from the rest?

I do agree the pot size is very small but that is part of the challenge for me. Unfortunately I am very short on space so nano grows are pretty much my only option although I may also try a grow with just 1-2 plants and train them heavily to stay low. It's all a learning experience at the moment! My previous (and first ever) grow of Maple Leaf Indica really surprised me because those plants went through hell being defoliated/topped/dried out all during flowering and they still made it to harvest just fine. When I did chop them down the root balls were in remarkably good shape, no sign of any root loss or anything and they were actually in slightly smaller pots than these believe it or not.
With regard to the smell that is actually my least favourite part of this grow so far - the terpene profiles of all of these plants are just completely random there is no consistency whatsoever. Growing the plants all together with direct comparisons it really seems that it's a highly unstable strain. None of the healthy plants smell like lemon/citrus at all, and perhaps the best looking plant (back left) actually smells really horrible - it's just like raw liver/blood.
I will withhold my final judgement until after harvest and drying, but if the terpene profiles of the growing plants are anything to go by I am going to end up with 5 different types of random weed from a grow of a single strain.
