What do you have covering the top of your grow medium? It looks like sand, but I see you wrote that it was topped with Insectfrass in your note. What is it, and what does it help prevent?
I’m curious because I have some very small flying creatures inside my tent, but I don’t know how to safely get rid of them without introducing pesticides into my grow. Honestly, I’m not fond of the idea of putting chemicals on something I plan on smoking.
Is whatever you put on yours used to fight, get rid of, or prevent such occurrences?
My plants are healthy and don’t show any signs of insect infestation in their foliage or anywhere, but I’d still like to get rid of them somehow.
Will what you’re using help?
@The_Good_Twin,it sounds as if you are having fungus gnats, these foggers are apain in the ass.
you better fight them in every stage
the flies lay eggs in the soil, and the larvaes chew on the roots of your plant
killing flies with sticky traps( yellowstickers)
killing larvae and eggs with nematodes ( predator bugs)
spraying surface of your medium with neemoilsoilution and a good breeze ( airflow) is good too
Insectfrass is manure from bugs and chitin from their bodies( soldierflies)
it has NPK of 3-2-2 and contains lots of microbacterias, what is very important for a good growmedium
I buy it in 12kg sacks and cover the surface of my plants
It’s nice to see another DarkStar diary going well! I grew this strain for my first grow and it was awesome. It developed some wonderful colors toward the end of the grow, and produced a lot because I let it veg for 10 weeks. I wouldn’t recommend doing that unless you have a large grow room. My DarkStar is the best strain I have ever tried! It’s truly awesome! Good luck, and I hope you have a marvelous grow!!
