Sprouted by day 3 and into there 1 gallons. I have named them both. Demeter & Gaia. Fitting I think. We will see. So the race is on, 118 days before due date starts and then a 22 day entry window. I will need every day of that to put out the best. I'm going to be testing my skills level. I'm shooting for thc in the mid to high 20%. START WITH GOOD GENES, the rest will follow.
A gene anomaly has formed with Gaia, her 3 pedals leafs have fused together, meaning there is some instability in her genetics. There is a reason that I grew 2 plants. It will probably have no effect on the quality. Demeter is a little slower on the growth and her leaves are a little narrower than Gaia's. But no gene issues have popped up as of yet. Have 2 more weeks of growth so we will see.
So the girls are now just Veging out...pun intended....can definatly tell they are completely different phenos.leaf structure gives it away. I'm excited to see how they play out. So I'm going to bump up there ppm to 400's
These lady's are Bumpin, vigour, strong branch development, I'm having no nute burn with the vegan diet. I'm also going by the less is more theory. Lower levels of nute and Distilled water. I was using tap on my last couple grows and getting nute burn during veg, so I made the switch to a pure water and low and behold no burning😂
These lady's are healthy and the foliage is thick. No nute burn provided I'm not feeding them super heavy. They are liking the big tent, they are streching out well.. there branches are thick. Switching to bigger pots this week and flower next week.
Yea!!! Flower time... I switched these ladys to flower today, I feel like they are are going to be huge plants, I ended up topping GAIA as well, but only once, and stretched the tops out. DEMETER is going to be a monster bush. This week is only water with a little acti-vera (silica & B vitamins) & boost (cal-mag) ph'd to 6.4. I give them enoculants( bacteria & fugi) every feed ( once a week). They will still need veg nutes next week before switching to her bloom regimen in week 3 of flower.
These girls are looking good, they are slowly streching at a good pace. They are still on a 6.4-6.8 ph which they are loving. No burnt tips from over feeding. There branching is good, stems are thick and sturdy, dont think I'm going to need support. So they get fed & inoculated once a week (@900-1100/ph:6.4-6.6)on Tuesdays and watered (@170-220ppm/ph:6.4-6.5)(acti-vara/cal-mag(2ml/gal.)) some times I dont have to use a buffer (ph+/-).
These ladys are getting big. I cleared out the center of demeters canopy to help with light penetration. The vegan diet is holding good in my book, no deficiancys and no tip burning. Haven't had any ph issues as of yet either. Run off has been at 6.6. I also added some Photo Synth plus( super bacteria & fungi) it stinks but works wonders. #I♡Fungi.
These girls are going strong, trichromes are starting to form. The stretching has slowed down a bit. I finished up the last of there pruning ( removing undergrowth & leaves that are not getting light and or developing.)
Then there was one, Gaia is going to be my lady for the Harvest Cup. Demeter hermied and I was a special kind of disappointed when I had to kill her, but hey it happens. So far no deficancys and no nute burn. She is stupid frosty too. Veganic is working thus far. Lowered some of her nute and upped others to help her develop.
So she is still lanky, no real density. Im still waiting for her bulk up.I've dropped her feed down to 700's ppm for the next week or 2. And then I'll start my flush on week 8. Dosnt really smell like much ether. I've added some molasses to her feed to see if that helps like in the past. We will see...hope she turns out, she is my hope for harvest cup....
She is still going well. She hasn't really bulked up a lot. She started a nother run on stigma production. That means more bud production/ density. She is still getting nutes for this week and then I'm going to start my flush next week. I need at least 27 grams to enter in to the harvest cup and I think that's all she might produce. I broke out the microscope, her trichromes are still predominantly clear so she still has some time. I'm going for a 20-30 amber percentage.
So now she is only on water, no nutes. I'm going to flush her soil down to 200ppm this week. Her first flush is at 900ppm. Otherwise she is getting distlled ph'd to 6.5-6.8. She is still slender and her colas are like spears. Smell is amazing. It's like fruity/musky with hints of menthol. Beautiful plant just not bulky.
So her trichromes wer about 15-20% amber, she did put on a little weight during the last week but not much. Smell is a skunky mix of raw coco and sweet fruit, not necessarily banana. More to come once she is dry. Harvested on day 59 of flower, flushed for 10 days, but was still super greene.
It's a good balanced high, not overwhelming or anxious, mellow body buzz but doesnt bring you down, you can still remain active and be productive. The smell and flavor are exquisite, it has a light raw chocolate flavor mixed with custard and kushy-spiceyness. There is sweet mint mixed in there but its barely distinguishable, maybe wishful thinking. Very easy to go, it it's slow and steady has a little bit of vigor in veg but when the flip happens it just slow rolles at it on pace. Beautiful plant nonetheless.
She was strechy for the first 4 weeks of flower then tapered off. Good fast veg cycle. Not my favorite to grow due to how slow she matured and final weight granted I got 40.1 grams and 8.3 grams of trim that will become cookies soon.
The high is very clear headed but mellow, not overpowering or anxious. You are still motivated and you can get chatty easily. The flavor is nothing short of its name. It has a sweet fruity mint flavor on the pull, and a sweet custard kush on the exhale. The main harvest has 2-3 more days of dry before I jar her up for the long 50 day cure.
Beautiful structure and buds! Well done. I just spent some time this morning browsing over HSS seeds and this ones a beaut. I'm thinking about Special Needs for a future grow. You crushed it!
@EarthAlkemist, I've got environment down, now trying to master reading the plant, nutrient regimes etc to get a solid foundation to improve yields, potency and other goodies!
@fingerscrossed, thanx, the grow was problem free for the most part. I love growing banana strains because they tend to be larger, stronger plants, that are easy to grow .
After a 2 week cure, her tast is starting to change from woody to a spicey kushy earthy raw chocolate acidic. Tingles the nose and expands in the lungs. The high is awsome, it's like relaxed body buzz that leaves you alert and attentive but no jitters or anxiety. No fruity smell. Smells very earthy and chocolatey.
I'm going to be chopping her down in 2 days her trichromes are on point. She will have a total of 10 days with only water so she should be good to harvest.
So the due date for entrance changed to October 29- November 9. So she is going to be getting a 1&1/2 month cure most likely 😁..supposedly 2month cures are were it's at....
She has put on a little weight since I tied her up. Her fragrance started to develop. It's like like a sweet fruit mixed with a slight menthol and raw coco...No Bananas though, much more fruity..
I gave her the last feed she will be getting as far as nutes go, from here on in she will be getting distilled ph'd @ 6.5.-7. I tied up some of her branches because they were getting there lean on and hopefully it I'll help with her bulking up aswell...I'm looking to harvest the 1st or second week of september. She is already starting to pull nutes from her bottom leaves so when in Rome....
I've used terpinator and it made my plants frosty, this veganic diet in which I'm Not using terpinator, is way more frosty than my other grows. Not a serman just a thought.
So she is a little slow to mature, I believe this is due to her sativa heritage. The buds seem to be slender and are running. This is what I get for running unproven genetics. I hope they start chunking up in these last 3-4 weeks
I feel like she is taking her sweet time developing, her buds are still small and I feel like they haven't grown much in week 4. Breeder said 56-65 days of flower and I'm on day 29. Who knows she might be a late bloomer or just have a heavy sativa genetics and take longer.
And then there was one. Demeter hermied. I noticed a bunch of Male pollen sacs so.....OF WITH HER HEAD... Hopefully I got to her before she released any pollen...we will see. I'm super sad I had to kill her but it's way better than the other outcome.
I found 2 male bananas on Demeter when watering, I pulled them immediately. I did further inspection and found no more. They did not open. I think it's from the stress of pruning in the 3-4th week of flower.
Trichromes are forming and there is that sweet musty banana smell I was getting from my Banana OG a couple crops ago. They are a little slow to flower, but that's ok, cant rush a good thing.
