Germination
Hi all. This week I’m starting my 3rd grow. I have a new tent to try and and a few new strains to nurture over the next couple of months. On my last grow I had a northern lights auto which was immediately one of my favourites so I’m doing another one. Also trying royal jack auto, white widow auto and amnesia haze auto for the first time. I’m squeezing in four plants to the new tent in 8L fabric pots. There should be plenty of room for them as the RQS auto don’t get that big. Also trying the LST training clips for the 1st time so looking forward to that. I used the paper towel method for all four seeds . All have germinated and we’re added to pots today. For a super simple grow I’m only using RQS easy grow which is added to the soil mix and should last the full grow. I’ll add some booster for flowering but that’s going to be it. Last grow was overly complicated so this will be kept simple . FFS - update. While removing the white widow from the kitchen town it snapped. It had kind a grown into the towel so it’s dead and I’ve replaced it with Royal queen seeds purplematc cbd. Shame. I wanted to try white widow.

Just a brief update this week as it’s their 1st week in soil, so nothing much really happens. The northern lights is growing well. The amnesia haze and royal jack are also starting off well but the purplematic was a little slower to germinate. No problems, to report and too early in the grow to comment. I picked up the sp3000 earlier this years and have already used it for one grow. It’s still an impressive light for the money. I have it set 50 cm above the canopy and set to minimum to get the seedlings used to receiving light. I’ll ramp up the rays slowly over the next 3 weeks in veg and keep the 50 cm hight as a constant. The tent was new for this grow and I’m impressed with the construction and quality compared to my 120-120 mammoth. It’s much thicker and more robust. That’s it for this week. Next week we should see some more action 😜

Hi all. Week 2 in soil for most of the plants, the haze and purplematic were a few days behind as they were late additions due to two damage seeds and an idiot grower - me. Anyhow. They look like they’re doing well. No issues so far. The sp300 is set on 30% and is still 50 cm from the “canopy” I’ll start increasing this over the next 7 days until we hit 40% at the same hight. In the first couple of weeks there isn’t really much to see or talk about. It’s week 4/5 when you see things happen and any issues start to raise their heads. Looking forward to trying LST clips for the first time but that’s a couple of weeks away . Until next time, happy growing.

Hi, welcome to my multi grow. 3rd week in and they’re getting along nicely , no issues to report. As always the northern lights is a fast grower, and is an enjoyable smoke. It just get on with things and grows, no issues and produces a decent crop so it’s one of my all time favourites. The others, amnesia haze, royal jack and purplematic are all new so I don’t know what to expect from these. Looking forward to finding out as the grow progresses. I also added two chilli plans to the unused space. May as well throw these little guys in they’re while the tent is set up. The chilli germination is around 10-14 days so they’re lagging behind the main grow. No problem, just letting you guys know if you want to add some to your next grow. It’s a nice way to maximise the tent space. For another week, just add water. I think by the end of this week I’ll start with the LST and try the clips for the 1st time. Looking forward to that. Can’t believe it’s been 4 weeks already. The northern lights is storming away as usual, these always grow fast for me. Good progress on the others too but only germinated one of each seed so these could be small, or average for their type. Anyhow. Just adding water and letting the easy grow do it’s thing. Used a few LST clips but not really seeing much bend. I’ll keep experimenting and go back to wire if needed. Ok, short n sweet this week.

So we’re at week 6. That’s flew by. The four plants are all doing well and so far have only been feeding from the easy grow I mixed with the soil at the start. RQS advised that I should start adding some bloom booster at this point so I’ll be adding that this week. This is my 3rd grow and learning a lot from my previous mistakes. 1- not over watering. 2- not over feeding. 3- stop playing with the plants. They don’t need a babysitter. 4- ramp up the light more slowly. Currently at 75% 5-take it easy when LSTing. I’ve previously snapped two plants by being too ambitious with the bend. The purplematic looks awesome 😎 so really looking forward to seeing how that progresses in the next few weeks. The amnesia haze is a bit of a runt but I’m sure it will still produce enough to make it worth keeping. That it for week 6 Thanks

Week seven of my multi grow. Still just trotting along and the plants are just doing their thing. They look ok so I’m just leaving them to it. Northern lights is a champ, smokes well and grows well so will also be on my grow schedule one a year to stock up. This plant is no exception, and takes little to no special treatment. Just water when needed and add some bloom booster every now and again. Nice strong plant. The purplematic is quite a small plant but that’s no problem. I have another four seeds and just germinated one to see how it would do. Looks and smells fantastic but small. Royal jack. Still quite early days but it’s not growing any taller so it’s gonna be a short tubby one. No problem as it will still produce the goods but the stubby plants are are pain to LST and harvest. Ah well I have a few more seeds to try. Maybe it was a runt. Lastly the haze. Same as the royal jack but not so extreme. Haven’t grown this before either but a little disappointed that it’s not filling out so well. Not every grow is going produce monster plants but I’m seeing more and more tiny plants from RQS seeds. Maybe it’s time to look around at other breeders and try their goods.

Week 8 madness 😜 Another calm and normal week in the tent. The norther lights is really doing well for this stage. The others not so but I think thats what you get in the auto lottery. This is my 3rd grow and I’ve changed my feed and watering schedule for each grow, BUT whenever I hit week 8 I start getting grown crisp leaves. Not just at the bottom but towards to them too. I can’t work it out. 1st grow I think I underfed, 2nd over fed and this time it should be Goldilocks, but still the same issue. Water ph is great., temps fine day and night, not too much light, Just can’t figure it out. Could be the plants just doing their thing. Anyhow, they’re still browsing so hope to see them fatten up over the next couple of weeks.

Week nine and I feel I should be getting the electronic microscope out. The puprplematic is making some interesting changes so I need to check out the trichomes and see how far they are along. As I posted last week, I always have the same issue around week 8 of yellowing leaves. I’d imagine it’s a nitrogen deficiency so i’m feeding ever water which is now about every 3 days. I’ll do that for a couple of weeks and see how they go. It’s a bit late but definitely something I need to practice. I never seem to get this part right with either over feeding or under. It’s very hard to find the golden ratio. Maybe it’s the medium I use which is the bio izz light mix. Apparently it doesn’t hold on to nutrients well but that should be mitigated buy the easy grow pellets I used at the beginning. I dunno, I’ll still get a decent amount of useable gear out of this, so I don’t need mega crops. I still give most of it away to friends. Oh, the two chilli plants are frickin loving life in the teat. They’re compact but already flowering.

Week 10. The royal jack, amnesia haze and purplematic are all coming to an and and will need to be harvested soon. They’re all a few days away from being ready so I’ll probably do one last water and call it done. The northern lights is still going and I think it probably has 3 weeks left. Not too pleased with this grow so making a change for my next one. I’m going to stop using the biobizz light mix and go for their full fat mix. That’s it

Week 11 Today I chopped the purplematic, royal jack and amnesia haze. Pretty’s disappointed with all three, they never really took off and were stunted. No idea why and didn’t do anything obvious wrong. The northern lights is still in the tent and growing well in the same conditions and treatment so it confusing. Anyhow, it is what it is and I’ll still have something to show for the work I’ve put in. I guess the disappointment comes from the fact that I’ve upgraded the tent, light and nutrients so it’s either me or the seeds. Anyhow, this will turn into a moan which I don’t want to do as I still have some flowers to enjoy 😉 I’ll update next week when I think the NL will be chopped.
