For germination I was using a Root Riot. I always do this way. Make a warm bed. Give some water, and after 3-4 days I have plant on the top, (sometimes it happen in 2 days). And after I put directly in soil. I do my soil mix with perlite (always working perfect for me) 1/3. First week I give only Root juice 1.5ml/L.
I decide to keep 24/0 light, not really expensive for me , so no worries.
